If you list the price to include the Paypal fees and/or shipping fees, and you are willing to accept a money order, it won't matter to the buyer as he already knows the listed price.

How many times has a buyer asked the seller to deduct a percentage of the total because they were sending a money order instead? They are paying extra for the money order also, so it really doesn't matter.

So, you make a couple of extra bucks with a money order. List a price and shipping, and be done with it.

It is funny that so many people gripe about how bad and unsafe Paypal is, but so many sellers will only accept paypal.

All this stuff about selling and buying is not rocket science, it just takes honesty and common sense which seems to be really lacking lately.

I think some sellers only accept Paypal because it's the fastest way to be relatively certain the deal is done since so many buyers say they'll buy soemthing only to never send payment. In the meantime, the seller has to turn away other buyers.

I take any type of payment but comunicate well on logistics , as far as fees when people buy from shops they pay tax or shipping sometimes but when they buy here it seems they don't want to include fees (lowballers) . It seems that eBay and craigs list type sales are bleeding to RR and ruined the help a friend in the hobby attitude .

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

Other than the wait,is there anything wrong with taking a money order? I thought a money order was as good as cash?

You'd be surprised at the amount of counterfeit M O's and Cashiers checks out there today. My wife's a banker she see's this stuff every day. I wouldn't take a MO or check either.

Only use USPS MOs and take it to the PO to verify it is good before you ship.
I just add the fees and shipping to the price I want to sell for most people list the lower price to get attention and then get the shipping and all added after. People just don't realize the PP fees on $100 is a whopping $3 if you cannot afford to eat $3, either charger $105 or just roll with it......Ron

No disrespect toward any USPS that may be posting here but mine can't even get the right mail in the right slot and I'm going to stand in line for 30 minutes to have them "check" a MO to see if it's real. Not happening.

Like I've said before,an item is for sale until it's paid for.

No way I'll send something off on just anyones word that they will send the money on a week long trip across the country. After the long awaited arrival of the money,I'll need to make a 30 mile drive to transform the MO into usable currency.

No.Sorry.
You can send a MO if you want but I'll tell you up front, the item is still for sale until it's paid for and will be advertised as such.
I'd also want paid a lot more than Paypal fees for the trouble.

An item is usually for sale because someone needs money more than the item.
Asking them to wait weeks for payment is one of the rudest things I can think of.
Asking them to lower the price is nothing short of trying to take advantage of someones misfortune.I've even heard it said and seen it in print here on this forum."If they need the money bad enough, they'll sell cheap".Shame on anyone who tries low balling or even haggling.

Nothing wrong with asking for a better price especially when you have seen the same item for less. If the seller does not want to sell it, then move on. I do think lowballing, especially in the sale thread, is dispicable. You guys need to move closer to town!

I have sold alot of stuff at real steals and yet I still get a lowball , I just tell them not today . If I feel shipping is high I offer to split but that's if Im helping someone to get their aircraft in the air on a low budget . Ican talk on phone or pm's and get a feel , you can tell the flebay guys by how they respond or how long they get back to you cuz they are surfing the web to get other stuff

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

I'm the opposite. eBay has become to expensive to sell stuff of value on. It's not often I sell something but when I do, I'm blown away at what eBay collects these days. I just sold a $20 cycling jersey for example and they billed me $4.45 cents. Sure, I would have had to work a little to find a cycling forum to sell it on but eBay in my mind is opening to door for alternatives.

So if a buyer sends you a money order and it reaches you after someone else has paid via Paypal then what is the next course of action?

Return the money order.
Obviously they won't mind the wait.

I'm a little confused by this term lowballing. So I looked it up on wikipedia. It said

"The low-ball is a persuasion and selling technique in which an item or service is offered at a lower price than is actually intended to be charged, after which the price is raised to increase profits."

Which tell me its a sellers ploy but you guys are giving buyers the blame. Very confusing

As for no haggling, well that takes all the fun out of it. When I sell something on RR I price it slightly high, usually have a little haggle with the buyer and then settle on a price which I wanted and he feels makes him think he got a good deal. Then I ship it at that price, no extra charges, fees or shipping costs and everybody is happy.

If you agree to wait for a MO, then wait for the MO. If you don't want a MO, tell the buyer up front. If you don't like a pay pal fee, dont buy the item. If you agree to wait a day for the money, then wait a day for the money. If you want to be payed in rolled quarters, then put it in the add. This is not that hard.

Some of you could screw up a wet dream.
