Can someone tell me if the Trex550 is more on the nose heavy or tail heavy with the lipo mounted to the front tray? I want to determine if I should add the lipo rx pack to the rear or front.

You should check for CG on your own 550, Hold the main shaft parallel to the ground, the heavy end will drop. You'll use the same method again to see how far out the Batt needs to be for the correct CG.

If you plan to use the carbon fiber tail boom to save weight in the tail, don't bother. I ordered the 550 CF tail boom because I was concerned my 550 might end up a little bit tail heavy, but the quality of the CF boom is pretty bad. The boom is thin aluminum with a very thin veneer of something which resembles carbon fiber, but is no thicker than a sheet of notebook paper.

With Thunder Power 65C 5000 packs, my 550 is still a little tail heavy.

I'm using the Voltz 5100 packs, and it's just slightly tail heavy.

Thanks everyone. That is what I want to know as I need to determine where to mount the 6v regulator and the receiver lipo pack, but my nano tech 5000mah has not yet arrived. It looks like I will have to mount the receiver lipo up front.

CG Balance
The rotor dish is nothing but a flying wing. Since our rotor blades are constant chord it ts simple to find the CG location. Because your helicopter is electri powered you don't have to worry about CG changes. If you want a trainer setting 25% is a good starting point and the further you move it toward the neutral point the more agile/unstable it will become.
