Just wanted to share some pictures and a short video of my Century AS350 Ecureuil w/ Trex 600 ESP

It’s a fun scale machine, may be not as beautiful and detailed as some of the birds that I see on here but I still like it very much

Watch at YouTube

Thanks for watching

That looks like a sweet heli indeed!

Is that the painted fuselage or did you paint it yourself?

The landing gear looks very scale. How did you make them?

Also my complements to who ever took the pictures. They are very clear!

Thank you for the compliment Phil

It's the pre-painted Century fuse, it comes with the landing gear like that.

I'll pass the compliments for the photos to my wife, I too think she's done a great job at taking the inflight pictures, she had lots of fun doing it, wants to come to the field more as she found it a nice challenge to do so, she also wants to make me a better HD movie

Hi Patriek,
your machine is beautiful and what counts is that YOU are happy with it and enjoying it.

I also purchased a pre-painted fuselage from Century and what I did was find pics of the real one and started adding scale details to the model and in my opinion the details is usually what makes a scale machine stand out, especially a prepainted one.

Patriek - It looks great. My AS350 (same paint scheme) arrives in a couple days. I'll be installing TREX 600E mechanics. What head speed are you running?

I have been experimenting with low speeds and longer flight times with some success. My pod and boom REX600, on 6S, gets about 18 minutes at 1350 head speed. I'm running a 1000 KV Scorpion and a 16:1 ratio. That configuration is more than capable of smooth scale-link flying styles. The lower RPMs also produce a quiet mechanical power with blade noise sounding very scale. My concern is that the added weight of the fuselage will have to be offset by increased head speed.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, to me that's the icing on the cake

@2tall

I'm running ~1550rpm governed head speed. No problems, it flies very nice.

With the fuselage you will need either more pitch or more headspeed. It will need some tweaking to get it to fly as you like it. I started at 1450rpm in pod-and-boom config, with the fuse it felt too sluggish, @ ~1500 there was some resonance so i upped it some more and settled for 1550rpm.

With this configuration (Kontronik Jive 100LV, Pyro 600-12, 6S1P 5000mah) I can fly for > 10 minutes, taking out ~380ma/ minute. Everything stays as cool as a cucumber

Hope this helps

Sweet!!!!
I have the same one but with Hirobo SDX nitro mechanics. Mine is mounted very well but I still get a vibe on spool up and down right around 1/4-1/2 throttle. I think its the landing gear, mine seems to flex from side to side right where the gears curves downward.

After hearing your electric spool up I have to say it sounds like a turbine spooling up, I may have to consider electric next time I build another scale. Awesome flight by the way and keep up the good work.

@DCORSAIR

Me 2 had a strong shake on spool up & down. My pitch curve is -4, +5, +11. I came across this thread about the same fuse: https://rc.runryder.com/t614971p1/

Mine also shook because of the flex in the landing gear. After reading the mentioned thread I spooled up & down at ~-1 degrees instead of -4 degrees, and when it starts to ground resonate I alter the pitch a bit and it's gone.

As for the spool up, check Alan's AS-350 build, he's converted a nitro to electric using the nitro clutch. Now THAT's a scale spool up

Here's the thread: https://rc.runryder.com/t618483p1/
