Inflation rate for past 10 years:

Less now than it was in 2000, and most other years as well...

When you stop by in phoenix
I just left Phoenix on Monday after a short visit, 90+ degrees, it was freaking hot. Luckily I spent my time about 2 hours north of there so it was in the 70's.

Ignore what? Did someone say beer?

Welcome to the Southwest. Summer sucks, but the rest is good.
I will laugh respectfully
Well then, that makes two of us.

Actually when crude peaked at $145 in July gas prices were a little over $4 a gallon average. They dont list DC specifically but in Boston regular was at $4.28 average. So it was close, but yeah there is still a pretty hefty difference in the price of crude now and then for it to be less than a dollar difference in the price of gas. Just imagine what it would be if crude was at $145 again.

Just look at the upward trend of the price of gold.
It now takes more money out of our pockets to buy an ounce of it.

Flew in, I was only there for 3 days. Need to see the in-laws when I can, my wife gets back tomorrow.

Yup, looks a lot like the front side of the 1980 - 1883 gold bubble burst.

They changed the way that the inflation rate is calculated to make it look better. If they still did it the way that they did in the 1970s the real rate is close to ten percent right now!
They don't even use the cost of gas in the calculation anymore.

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!

Imagine this. If everyone who works 10-20 miles from work commuted on bicycles instead of driving a car. Many would save thousands and have health benefits too. I am coming to the point of realization that cars are a BIG reason many do not get ahead financially, they are a complete loss of wealth! Cars are a great way to keep your bank account in constant drain mode. Ride a bicycle, get rich

Would love to if I could, but 14 miles is a little too far for me. Plus, I don't think I could arrive alive during the hot summer months.

Better still, work from home provided you are capable of maintaining an honest and diligent attitude to your responsabilities. Due to the internet, many occupations can now be home based which offers great advantages in very many ways. Although petrol prices in the US are still very low compared to other contries, this is offset by the extra distances travelled; thank gawd you don't pay $10/gallon like we do.

$5.69 in orlando...WTF?
That was a rippoff station. All the stations around here just north of Orlando are $3.78 (plus or minus a few cents).

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?
