Hi Guys,
Got my radikal g20 out today after the winter break.Had the engine running well with a gallon through it last year.Today she wouldnt fire up unless I had the trim up to 3/4.Last year I always started it at half trim or below.Should I lean the L needle slightly? and what engine rpm is a nice reliable idle on the G20? - I am afraid to touch any needles after it took me so long getting right last year.
Any help appreciated,Currently L 1 3/8 and H 1 1/2.
Phil.

Phil,
Any engine breakin requires a slight change.. as the engine breaks in, you have to lean it... This is a indication the ring is seating...

You need to lean the low 1/16..that is half way to 11/4... This is normal, and you will probably end up at 11/4 when finished with the breakin...

I have been fooling with these engines for while, and can tell you on a stock engine, if you start out at the 13/8 on the low, and 11/2 on high you want move the needles +- 1/8 of turn to get it right. If you do, likely something else is wrong..

engine idle prob
Hi Bill,
I think I have developed a problem then. The engine wont start unless I have trim at 3/4 with L needle at 1 1/4 and its hard to start. If I drop trim below 3/4 it splutters and dies. Its also putting out alot of white smoke on acceleration.I will order the alu carb spacer and gaskets incase of a leak at the carb - could the problem be else where?

Sounds like just the opposite ... Did you leave fuel in over the winter?

Did you use fresh fuel? If you are using Camper fuel, you might want to try some reg gas just to get it running...

Oh well I did mix the gas using petrol from last year.I only mixed up a new batch last weekend but the gas was purchased last season.I thought it only went off if it was mixed with the 2 stroke oil.
The 2 stoke oil is 3 years old - does it go out of date too?
I will mix up some fresh stuff at the weekend and see how it goes.
thanks for the info Bill.

Idle rpm please
Well i mixed up the fresh gas and the motor now starts at half trim. To get a nice reliable idle i have to put the trim up to 3/4 whilst cold.My GV-1 is showing 550 - 650 rpm on the screen. Is that ok? I am running 14/90 gears so not sure what rpm my engine is idling at.The zenoah instruction book says to set engine to 2000rpm on idle.
