I have a 600N and want to use an A123 (Lifepo4) 6.6v RX pack to power the 6V cyclic servos I have, bypassing a regulator, but I have a 9254 on the tail, and I understand they don't like much over 5.5v

I obviously need to step down just the tail, but a stepdown diode is probably not enough. I have a CC BEC regulator sitting around and was wondering if anyone used it in place of a stepdown with success or failure.

Or perhaps another, simpler option.. 2 stepdowns?

a single step down will be fine. Will take you to 5.8, which is equivalent to a 4 cell NiMH right off the charger.

Although the BEC would work, it would be overkill.
Use this.

It's an actual regulator, not a diode. Save your BEC for something more useful.

CC BEC to regulate the tail only?
WTH would you want to do that? So many easier options to step voltage down that are lighter than a bec.

High Voltage just works better

I already have one I'm not using, and its the original cc bec, not the BEC pro. This thing is small, I used to use it on a 450.

No reason to go out and buy something else... you already have it and it is tried and tested to function properly..... put it in and go fly!!!!!

By the way, whenever I use ANY regulator, after getting all the connectors on, the first thing that I plug in is a volt meter... just to make certain that all is set properly... then plug in whatever you are going to drive with it.... I do the same on ALL bec's and esc's... it is electronic and can screw up at anytime just like you TV!!!!!!!! So, I always check.... no matter what name is on it!!!!!

Good Luck and have fun.....
