I cant seem to update my 8fg with my SD card. when I insert it in the radio it doesn't seem to recognize it.I don't get the message asking me to format it in the radio. I formatted it using my PC(w/ Windows 7), downloaded the software upgrade and when I try to update the radio I get an Error code 01. I wonder if the radio cant/doesn't read the sd card if it's not formatted in the radio. It's a scandask sdhc 4g card. I also tried to update my mz that same night and no luck. i wonder if it has something to do with windows 7.(just a thought)

update: I got a new sd card and it worked. I guess the radio didn't recognize it for some reason. now on to 14mz.

Its SDHC, use a SD. They look the same but the SD works.

For the 8FG, the card must be formated by the radio first, since the 8FG does not use Windows. You then use the small application to move the files to the card from the computer.

The 14MZ does use Windows so you drag the files to the CF card.

BTW - I have done all my 14MZ updates using a Mac. Just put the card in a reader and drag the proper files onto it. I use Stuffit Expander to unzip the update files. Works perfectly

I have a 2gig sd card that the 8fg will format. However, when I go to load the files onto the card I get a messages that says there is not enough room on the card. Apparently the card maxes out at 1.86 Gig. I tried a 4 gig SD HD and the 8fg wouldn't recognize it.

Go thru the instructions again. There is more than enough room for the update. You MUST follow exactly, no drag and copy. You must run the .exe file when promted, then select where you want the file saved to.
