Again....flying in a park...........when are we as a body of knowledgeable people going to learn to stay out of parks and fly in our own designated fields? I get sick every time I read about this happening. Too many idiots getting their hands on something that is to be flown with caution and common sense.

COMMON SENCE....something surely missing in today's society.

Nevermind - it was the same one.

Thanks for digging up a 9-year old 'news' report.

With respect to the Houston incident, there is an RC flying site in the park, they were not flying in a park the way this infers. But it is old news.

I assume Jeff already knows about Ron Kyle death. It is terrible tragedy and a blow to RC if a new death is real.

If it is the new incident, please post. But, lets not dig up above old story.

I really don't think its that common of an occurance.

JC would have been like 4yo, 4 years ago. I did hear his dad almost had an eye taken out by a thrown blade (or weight) but was saved by protective eyewear.

I had not heard that man died.

How did this happen?

I have been speaking with Mr Woo (person Justin's heli grazed) and his son for about 18months off and on since the accident. But, I have not spoken with him in the past 2 years. Was his death caused by the accident?

At that time he had suffered permanent iris damage to one eye. We have never forgotten that accident and never will. I still break a cold sweat every time the word NEAT is mentioned.

Heli-on

My eye glass and clip on did save my eye. But, not before permanently damaging iris on that eye.

I think alot of things happen for a reason but sucks when it hits close to home . I dont want to bring up old news or start a rant about parks ,in every sport ,hobby you have the rule breakers . I had a family member call me and said they saw on news about a guy (surgen) hurt?death? in garage from rc heli . My family is on me now since I had a house burn down from hobby related reason so you know how it goes from here

I can tell you that things have me thinking of getting out of helis ,my heart is in it deep but in a bit shaken up about it rite now.

no need to consider getting out of heli's just fly safe and make sure everyone around you is flying safe as well. Tragic indeed and don't forget the girl that got struck in Tampa. That was plan stupidity, and as I remember correctly they where bugging her and struck her.

Thought that was a 450 size that the douches we're flying?

Doesn't matter I now know what a 450 can do to you...feel bad for that girl and way cool that everyone chipped in to help with medical expenses.

Well, guys, lets put this in perspective. Yes, we have to be safe and try to stop idiots from flying in unsafe areas in unsafe ways.

But are you willing to stop taking a shower? or mowing the lawn? There are more people killed by showers and lawn mowers every year then ANY RC related injuries and fatalities. Life is a risk. We do our best to minimize risk, but things happen.

Did anyone see the photo of the fellow who almost died from an X-acto knife cut in his hand in the latest AMA Mag?

Be careful, but have fun. Life without risk is no life at all.

The number of people showering compared to RC flying is probably about 2.5 billion to 1.....So unless a couple billion people a year are killed showering, that statement irrelevant.

Same for lawn mowers in use.
