Very nice build so far. I may have seen another video of you flying it but I can't pin down where. Those seats are really cool. Take care.

Thanks Guys,

Now that I am happy with the main screens fit and placement, all the other goodies can be fit and placed. I hope to be back in the air this weekend but we will have to see.

Looking really good. Mine also did the same thing until I increased the main rotor speed a bit (tail increased 540 rpm) and put a high torque servo in control of the tail. With the change in gearing (got rid of the Mod .7 and went to Mod 1.), there is now ample tail speed and authority but I really needed a kick in the pants (broken blades) to get my butt in motion to change up the system. Figures. Keep up that flying. Love it.

That is one awesome looking heli, nice work!! BTW, my 800 size huey does the same tail blow out on super hard stops. That's a lot of torque being translated through the airframe all at once...

I knew it would blow away but not sure just when.

There is a slight lag on power delivery using a dedicated motor for the tail. With the motor running 1 to 1, it takes about .2 second for the ESC to sense the the load and speed droop, and make the correction, along with the correction from the gyro. Under the high load, the fan speed droop can be as much as 400 rpm before the ESC catches up. If the tail was geared, this would not be nearly noticeable.

This thing flies really well and has over 120 flights. This is the first time I blasted the tail but I was trying to. Its nice to know the limit.

Gotcha. For some reason I didn't know that the tail was on it's own dedicated motor... How do you like that set up?

For this application it works great.

To get a fan speed high enough for good tail authority I would have to run a head speed in the 2k+ range with conventional mechanics. A 5 blade head with this size rotor disc, well I want to see the video of that schit spinning at 2K+.

The fan turns at 10500. The main runs 1425. The fan is such a power hog under load, if it was on common mechanics, it would drag down the main causing all kinds of authority issues.

I run a 4025-550 on the tail which could power a 600 size heli and be an animal. Its good for 2800w so about 3.5hp at max output.

It works.
