It wouldn't surprise me for YGE to decide to not continue development of a 14S ESC and opt to replace it with a 12S 160amp ESC. Voltages above 12S can be lethal and can be a huge liability. CC & Scorpion has already publicly stated they can, but won't build an ESC over 12S for this very reason.

That's maybe something what you guys over the ocean believe... 14s isn't a problem at all here in Europe and YGE will not stop anything. Actually you'll get an even more interesting feature soon...

automatic crash detection with save your butt function?

Or maybe just simpler to include a flux capacitor to go back in time before the dumb thumb. But then you run into past versions of yourself and it gets messy.....

Great Scott!

Schluze is what all of the scale guys run, right? The guys who don't ever want their helicopter to catch on fire?

I thought Kontronik was coming out with a new ESC to pair with the new Logo? The Kosmik esc?

schulze are good esc! back in 2004 , I went 13S with a schulze 40-70! and soon went 14S with it, it has a feature that will not let it even arm if its over voltage! Gov is not that good though unless they have a new feature now from 2 years ago! that was the last time I bought a 40-170! its big! and has alot of other features that you can add to it! ease to program! and now with VBar having the gov with it, you can put it in airplane mode and go to town!

Am I the only one who is a little bit afraid of having my ESC in airplane mode? I have scars on my arm and little toe from an electric plank biting me. I just can't imagine what would happen if some 700mm (or even 800mm) blades instantly sprung to life.

About YGE... maybe Esprit takes it out of their product line or they'll offer a new version and wait now.
But YGE in Germany sells as usual and they don't seam to have plans to change that. Why? Because you get several different YGE XL HV 14s Escs rated up to 300A continuous... not only helicopter Escs. Schulze as well as YGE are well known when doing airplane flying.
Schulze just released a new HV Esc. But Schulze is way out of my budget... a 160A YGE has a comparable price including a external BEC to a PowerJive 120, HeliJive costs even more... and they're limited to 12s. I don't think that a big / heavy model like a XXtreme will fly that good (or better your batteries will not like it) using 12s when doing more aggressive flying.

I'm thinking by the time the XXtreme is available there will be more options for ESC. I really like the fact that the YGE is already setup to take advantage of the vbar governor no phase sensor just plug and play. I have been running the vbar governor on my L400 and I love it.

Esprit Model/YGE
Esprit Model is not a current dealer for YGE. If someone sees YGE on our website it is because of an old link. I do not know who from our company said that YGE have discontinued one of their products. For accurate info on YGE product you should contact YGE directly. If you do not get an immediate response from them it is because they are a small company and are very busy. They are nice people and will respond when they have time.

Justin you do setup on bench without blades etc so there's no issue if you follow steps and use common sense.

How can it work without a phase sensor? There has to be some sort of sensor to the V-bar, right?

The YGE 160 has a short (about 4 inch) servo wire (with servo plug)(in addition to the ESC lead that goes to the throttle channel on the V-Bar), that is used with their programming card for accessing the ESC's programing options.

That short lead also provides the "sensor input" the V-Bar's governor needs to function. Just use a servo extension to get the signal back to the V-Bar's sensor port, and it's "plug and play" (well almost. You need to swap the red and orange wire on the extension to get the needed signal from the YGE to the correct pin of the V-Bar's sensor port. But that took 2 minutes to do). No separate sensor of any kind needed.

In this regard, the future is already here (-:
