I hope we see some fly in a few days, not weeks or months. I know for sure you'll see them XFC.

If it will be in competition on June 3, this is saying they trust the design and they trust it to be flown at a competition level, so people will be able to see what's under the canopy ,not that crucial since most big details are out, but all details on the frame will be visible, so they wouldn't be worried about anyone copying, like they stated.

I think it would be nice to see a video, but better to no when it is available, whether its before before xfc or after ircha

@jhheli - re: 12S or 14S...
Hey bud, I think it'll just be a wait-and-see thing for me... I have a Scorpion 4530 LE on the way, so if it flies well w/710mm mains (or ~740 or so, if those sizes become available) then I'd rather stay at 12S using that motor.

I'm open to 14S though, especially if that motor will work at that voltage, because the 12S packs I have would most likely be undersized. If the 4530 doesn't work at 14S, then that's OK, it'll just go in TDR #2 -- which should arrive the same time as the motor.

Again, it'll just be a wait-and-see thing. Just waiting to see some pics and more details. Come on now, Dave!

Yeh i think 14S is the way esp on 800MM.

If you fly like a mad man with these motors I can gobble 3500MAH in 3.5-4.5 minutes on 710MM but it is fun

Please don't ask me when the XXtreme will be available. I have no control or input about that. Mikado is just using Kyle to help "prove" (read "break" the machine.

So what's going on? Got 128 flights now on the first machine, and a second "less-prototypical" machine being put together now that's a 1/2 pound (about 200 grams) lighter. Kyle has been flying the machine solely as an 800 class heli, since if he can't break it as an 800, the machine's mechanics in all respects will be solid.

Other than developing some gouging on a prototype "non-hardened" main shaft at about 70 flights (the production main shaft of course will be hardened), and one other small mechanical issue I mentioned before that we found early-on (the new part from Mikado is already "done", received, installed, and the problem "fixed", Kyle's been unable to "break" the heli.

We've done things like loosen-up the main gear/pinion back-lash past the point of "normal" (what would be considered too loose for a high powered Logo 600), and haven't been able to strip the main gear (with an 800 class power system!). So unlike the Logo 600 with high powered systems, "precise" gear meshes aren't as critical. The whole motor mounting/pinion/counter-bearing set-up is different and very easy to "deal with". You'll like it I'm sure.

Tail? Solid. That's all I can say about it. The two stage torque tube drive system is tough and quiet. Concerning the belt, the front and rear pulleys it interfaces with are so large, and so many teeth are engaged at any one time, that there's not even an adjustment for belt tension. It's "build and forget", and for all practical purposes, "unstrippable". The 45 degree bevel gears are quite large, made out of that tough Mikado "plastic", and again, very tough. The whole system front-to-back is "smooth as glass".

Head? No issues. Still on the original dampeners, and seeing no need to change 'em yet. Dampening works with a WIDE range of head speeds, from sub 1000 up to "too fast for an 800 sized heli" (2000ish). We've tested five different 813mm blades, weighing in range from 250-295 grams. So, production blades will be "optimized" for the model.

There's been some debate about 12S/14S with 800 blades. I think it's a 14S model with 800 blades. I'll equate it to this: You can run a Logo 600 on 8S, but it's not an optimum set-up, not the "norm", and the community has largely accepted that a Logo 600 is best on 10S (12S is becoming popular as well). I think in the end, 14S for the XXtreme with 800 blades will be the "norm".

Mikado will be flying over this week for some consultation and face-to-face discussions, some flying, and we will be shooting some video for sure. It's of course up to them when they release the vid, have the heli ready for production, and all that marketing stuff. I'm just trying to let guys know that if they choose to wait on the model's release, it will be VERY well tested, and won't disappoint.

I can confidently state that the XXtreme is going to "reshape" people's concept about whether you can 3D an 800 class heli

Personally, I'm hanging tight until we see a firm release date. I hate it when buy something in advance and then see something better/faster/cheaper/whatever when I really need it.

For example, I bought a Pyro 700-52 before a particular heli was delivered... and then a motor I really wanted -- a Scorpion 4525-520 LE -- finally became available on the market 2 weeks after I paid for the Pyro. Of course, the Pyro isn't a bad motor at all, but now it's sitting on my shelf. (I guess I should try to sell it, but I hate dealing with the hassle).

Thanks Dave. I am also putting my money away and waiting.

Inge said that there will be a power system available when its released (not sure if this meant its made especially for them or if mikado supply it??).

I hope the boom/tail case cannot slip like the other Logos.

Also waiting for release. So far Dave's comments are very encouraging. Looks like a stout well designed heli.

I like the fact that the belt does not have a tension adjustment.

One less thing to worry about for cold temp flying.

Life is meaningful flying helis.

Well, what Jeff said is true. Team Mikado pilot Jesse Kavros from San Jose, CA and his dad Perry, along with Ralf (owner of Mikado), Kyle and myself, have been "playing helicopter" for the past few days, and Perry managed to take some vids of the XXtreme in action.

The first of these vids will be released hopefully this week, as soon as Perry puts some "finish" on them. Additional vids will follow soon (as in days) after the first. Then Mikado will start releasing information on set-ups etc. in the near future.
