Looks fantastic. The RT SG F3C blades will complete the red/blk/white theme. They have both 700 and 720mm.

Enjoy flying it.

G

Mr. Heliguy,

I used the low height landing gear - VJ Product. The stock has the gold pipe and bigger pipe.

G,

Thanks! I took the RT SG F3C blades from one of the SG and tried it on but with the Airskipper E12 canopy.. it looked plain. I'll try it again with the SY-E12 canopy. Will show pics later.

Regards
John

Are the canopy screws standard or an aftermarket part?

Excellent build thread, thanks so much for taking the time to do this!

I've never ordered from Japan for delivery to the USA, were there any unexpected additional handling or customs clearance fees involved?

Swear by my mother I am resisting the urge to get this heli "every single day". I am investing some money on my T700 to make it a better F3C performer, but I keep thinking it's wasted money. I probably won't recover it if I ever sell it and it's money that's not going to the Sylphide. All mechanical upgrades that are not transferable. I feel I am double spending. Ahhhh what a dilema!!! ahahhahaha.

BTW, with todays exchange the heli is around 2100 dls.

Telrin,

Thanks for the comment.. I didn't do much write up on the build just did mostly pictures. Anyway, I had doubts before ordering overseas but am confident now. The Sylphide kit I ordered it Sunday night I received it Wednesday morning (same week) I couldn't believe myself.. that's from Japan to Toronto, Canada. Amazingly quick.. but it depends on some locations too. Wendy (RCJapan) told me some areas took 2 weeks to receive their items. I used EMS shipping not FedEx, EMS is quicker on my location but some say FedEx is quicker (depends really where you are, so it's up to you what shipper to use. Customs fees you have to pay, not happy with it. We have 13% sales tax here.

marcosp,

Yeah, the price is better now.

Regards
John

We pay 50% customs fee of cost of kit + shipping..........

FedEx is MUCH more expensive than any EMS in my experience.

canopy
Hi johnnytango. Your current fleet already look that stunning, have you wondered how ur E12s will look like wit the previous version sylphide canopy design? I suppose more surface area coverage=better aerodynamics?

^^^ that was my old Sylphide back in 2002 (first picture) and 2005. It has since crashed, my instructor crashed it actually. And no, I wasn't angry or fell out with him: the crash was my fault because I did not loctite one of the screws on the swash. We're still good friends.

The canopy is actually bad because it tends to "scoop" the air in backwards flight (and get blown more by the wind!!), and this I suspect is one of the reasons why they have this sleeker canopy design - which is an improvement, even though it doesn't look as nice as the previous one.
