Robert,
The best reception conditions i could obtain was 5+ sats, tomorrow i will be testing in the flying field by the countryside, away from building interferences but the strange thing is that eventough i tested it in the workshop, which is in downtown, the location is free from nearby buildings.
Lets see what happens tomorrow, i will be working on setting FBL up right first and then switching to auto.

You might find once you are up and flying a little that you will get all 7+ satellites.

Don't bother with Auto mode until you get the FBL setup in manual mode. Then make sure you are hovering at mid stick, heli mechanically trimmed perfectly, then set/write the Center CFG with TX set in flight mode you hover and collective at mid stick......then you can go to Auto mode.

Of course, compass calibration needs to be done to.

Just take your time and double check everything.

TheCadMan,

Lower your HFG.
Robert
Tried doing that today with limited success. I had to reduce the HFG to 90 F/b and 120 L/R in order to get some stability
It did stop nodding but 2 main problems still:

1. When trying to move off it still nods as it moves off or rocks if moving sideways

2. When I yaw from a hover it slides off 10 metres or so and is really not very positionally stable.

I tried reducing the LFG to 0.6 and 0.4 which made a little difference to the nodding but it is nowhere stable enough to use with stills let alone video which is the reason for buying this kit. I am very frustrated as the season is upon us and I need it to earn its keep!!

I will also try talking to DJI but any help greatly appreciated.

Steve

Dont sweat it man, it does take time to dial in but we will help you get it going. The reason it slides out after a yaw is due to the low number on the HFG. Ive found that numbers around 300 for both elevator and aileron keep it positioned well when yawing.

The shaking is most likely attributed to the gain on the flybarless setup. I fought that for a while before getting it right. If the flybarless gain is too high, it will quickly shake back and forth, even in AUTO. Sometimes it presents itself in AUTO more, making you think the AUTO is to blame when in reality its the flybarless.

BUT, Robert said the new firmware, due out in a few days, will make tuning easier by doing away with some settings so I think you should wait a few days till it comes out and start tuning from the new firmware.

Cadman,

I need to see the settings for the swash plate page. Your Swash % settings has an effect on the value of gain you can use.

After we get that, start back with default settings.

Also, what heli is this mounted on?

Don't mess with the LFG at this point.

Lower your ACCY settings down to .7 for F/B and L/R.

Note: I apologize because I'm working on "the new firmware" right now.

Will get it figured out for you.

You can email me directly at Robert @ D J I USA .com(no spaces) and I can respond much faster.

Hello everyone,
I am using the dji ace one on a trex gasser conversion & it works great. I have a problem setting up the fail safe (return home) feature. When I take the heli to about, say, 400', turn the trans off, wait 10 sec. it just sits there as it were in auto mode.
I am using a futaba 12z radio & I'm sure I must've missed something in the setup somewhere. Can SOMEONE please tell me step by step how to do a proper setup to where the heli will return home when the power is lost from the transmitter?

Thanks in advance.

Wait 10 days .... big surprise.
It's been over 10 days, did I miss the big surprise? Also, how long have we been hearing "middle of this week", "end of the week", "beginning of next week"? I'm really ready for my heli to start flying in a straight line. Any word on the new firmware??

10 days = business days
April 15 + 10 business days + 4 (2 Saturday & 2 Sundays) = April 29.

Ok, including Easter Holiday, one day in the USA, or 2 in other countries. Go figure.

Demanding, very demanding

Ace one does fly in straight line with current firmware and software, this has been discussed and video posted.

Mine is the current firmware and it absolutely does not fly in a straight line. I am flybarless. I have a YouTube video showing the behavior on page 3 of this forum. Are you talking about the people who have removed their compass and installed it crooked to "fix" the issue?

Colin,

They won't release the firmware until its been fully tested. So you have to be patient. For the short term just turn the compass a few degrees, not a big deal. I thought we already discussed this on the phone?

I thought your question was answered several posts above.

Robert will make the final call on new firmware and software package release ..... i.e. if he has no issues on both.

New firmware, software and user manual are released. You can download online now. http://www.dji-innovations.com/en/download.php

Download the new manual and please read thru the changes before flying.
Please check all parameters and go thru the wizard again verifying everything is working on the bench correctly before flying.

Below is the release notes.

Adam,
We have been professionally flying 800 size flybarred cameraships during the last +9 years, now we have spent the last week flying and setting up a new 800 size CopterCam5e FBL helicopter with ACE ONE installed and let me tell you that i am completely impressed on how solid and smooth the handling in Manual mode is, you just cannot tell whether you are flying FBL or FB.

It takes time getting the system dialed in correctly but all the setup tools are there with ACE ONE Assistant, at this point i can say that the ACE ONE can only get better and better.

Today we tested the ACE ONE in another 800 size FBL cameraship for Pano work, we spent the day flying it higher and higher as we were gaining confidence, we reach up around 250mts where it was a tiny dot in the sky. At that point you are not flying it anymore, the ACE ONE is doing it for you (or the little chinese inside of it ).

At the beginning it takes time getting used to fly hands off in such conditions but after a few flights that original feeling is reverted by serenity, the autopilot is so dependable and predictable that make things, otherwise impossible, now naturally easy.

Robert,
Not yet, we've been at the flying field all day long today.
It is performing so well that we'll be upgrading next week after a client show, just in case... you know
