I notice that some of you guys are running 95mm tail blades. Is there a reason for this as the tail blades supplied in the ENV kit are 108mm I think ??

I have only used the stock Tails for FAI. Generally for FAI the required tail power isn't that high. So with pod and boom a smaller tail diameter is possible. It is more a personal preference a rule. A smaller tail diameter is less powerful but potentially higher preciction since the tail is less sensitive.

However stock tail. 105mm? works great.

For blades. Radix FAI mains are awesome.

I would not worry too much about 700 or 720. Just choose one, preferably a popular one and test. Try to stick with a blade for a few weeks before you decide. Usually a new setup, at least for me, takes a while to get used to.

One is hovering maneuvers were a higher disc loading to preferred. Against aerobatics and autorotation were the opposite is true.

Then parameters as blade weight, profile matters. I tested rotortech akmod blades and compared to Radix FAI. For me, and this is personal preference, the rotortech felt slow on collective pitch compared to the Radix that has a bit more bite.

If I hover in gusty winds I really feel that I need the bite to handle gusts.

Radix FAI V2 720's and 105's.
Contrary to a previous post... I'm finding now that the Radix 105 tail blades are working better for some of the schedule f maneuvers (tumbles). I also went in 1mm on the tail servo wheel to get higher gain on the gyro and can now run 100% in hover and 76% in aeros with the 105's. I found the CG was a little too far aft with the blades that come with the kit though.

The FAI V2 main blades are awesome, I'm getting rid of everything else!

Regards,
Cliff
