I'd go with a rebuilt before buying a new engine. Also depending on how bad the damage is before the rebuild. Inspect the crankcase carefully and make sure its not damaged.
What's the reason for the rebuild?
seized, lean run, connecting rod failed, scored piston and liner, blown piston, bad bearings, or just plain old tired.
Here's a rule I try to fly by.
New helicopter kit = Brand new everything except for the gyro. I have enough of those lying around.
