yes the brooks fun fly will be heald at the molalla field 3 minuets from my home. for those of you wondering it is a verry small field i dont know what cascade rotary was thinking but i have been told there will be 4 maby 5 flying satations and room for maby 20 motorhomes also everybody has to be gone by sunday morning. the only day any one flies there is sunday. so thay want all the cool helim guys gone. i talked to russ at cyote hobbies and got the impression all he cared about was the 500.00 for use of the field. so that being said if the turn out is anything like what the september brooks event is usually like there are going to be some very un happy people. to put the field in perspective it is about a 4th the size of the brooks fieldWHAT DO YOU MEAN ITS NOT SET UP FOR THAT, OH THATS WHAT YOU MEAN

It is much smaller than the Brooks field, of course.

I have been there during an airplane scale event (the Mollala field).

Its much larger than your claims are my friend.

I would suggest you go rain on someone elses parade please.

Thank you.

No offense intended.

Well im not trying to offend any One dennis al im trying to say is I have talked the the guys at the club at the molalla field and wanted the actual people that are planing on attending the event that there are only going to be a max of 5 flying stations so instead of 10 to 15 people flying at a time there will only be many 5. And yes I have been to the field and live 3 minuets away. So people driving from cali or Seattle should know ahead of timeWHAT DO YOU MEAN ITS NOT SET UP FOR THAT, OH THATS WHAT YOU MEAN

Im not offended dennis I just want the people who are coming to the event
to know what that are in for les than half the flying stations for one. The hole field is
a hundred acres according to grant sharp. Think he is the owner not sure.. I just want people to be well informed that's all and I don't think cascade rotary has done this. Oh and by the way there is a fence that runs down the center of the field abouts 50 yards
In front of the pilot stations

GMP thanks for the heads up... I have never been to brooks .. but I have herd much about it.. this was would have been my first year going..
But due to the field size and to as many people that show up at this event, I myself don't see how one could get much flight time in...
So i don't think I'll make the drive....

GMPCPBRA speaks truth. I am a member there also and just finished the PAC IMAC and Freestyle Giant Scale Plane event (which was off the hook for you plank type naysayers hehe).

It will be constrictive compared to Brooks. At even 4 stations it will be crowded. That fence will make you a better pilot-eventualy. Motorhomes and Trailers won't be sprawled out lengthwise (which is probalby a blessing), but there is still plenty of room.

That being said, I think it is awesome we have a local field!
I also think that it will probably end up being a better event by allowing more spectating of your peer pilots (might mean more pressure for the beginners but they'll be able to see more great flying). You will still get your flights in. This would be a great place to have a competition!

For Mollalla RC to allow us to fly with all the other events, activities and short notice going on... it speaks volumes to CRW and Molalla RC to be able to pull this off! Thanks to the folks who set this up!

If you've been there on any Sunday, you'd know its a weekly funfly. So while it's not optimal to pull stakes and miss Sunday, it beats any other alternative!
Because School is in session those of us with Kids won't be able to make it, except for maybe Saturday...

thanks dragonfly im not trying to discourage anyone from coming im going but as a spectator i think it will be just as fun to watch this year.

also i am not bashing cascade rotary there a great bunch of guys for sure. rob clark helped me set up my heli 4 years ago and and thay are great people to associate your self with in this hobby.

a1saleen brother make the drive it will be well worth it even as a spectator the fun fly has a vast aray of very tallented pilots not only to watch fly but talk to and get to know. i have been to every brooks event for the last 2 years except for in june of this year and that had to do with work and lack of money. but if i was able to have drove to the snohomish field i would have.

if any one would like i can stop by take some pics of the field and post them on here. i am looking forward to the event and having some fun

Not Brooks but it'll do.
I took a flight over Grant Sharp’s field near Molalla today just to take a look, there was a trailer parked there and some shade tents, jugging from the size of the trailer I bet we can get 30 motorhomes in there, 30 times 15’ would be 450’ feet, I bet the runway is about 500 feet long, this leaves only room for maybe 4 flight stations. I’m ready to go and I’m going with an open mind.

So for the folks who have to drive down Friday night will there be any available RV spots by then? It would be a heck of a drive for me and would really suck to drive all the way down only to not have a spot for my trailer.
