My son and I will be there tommorrow! If anyone has a Blade mCPx can they bring it with them. My 9yr old son has saved up the cash to buy one and we would have to order it. It would be nice for him to see one in person before he spends that kind of cash on something we have never seen in person. BTW he would be willing to buy a used rtf one if anyone has one they are selling.
I will see you all tommorrow!

Chesaning SweatFest, warm, hot, hotter, hotest, still a cool funfly
Summertime in Michigan, hot and muggy in the low bottom land, farm country. Arrived about 0940 and the sky was blue and the temperature was heading up. Got the EZEUP erected and unloaded the gear. Give me shade. Soon the heli humans began to arrive. Fired up the nitro birds and opened the needle a click or two to keep the engines happy.
By noontime there were 8-10 Eze-ups setup and the flying was happening up and down the line. Not quite as many attended this year, with events in Indy, late summer arriving, new boats for some and forecast heat wave there were about half as many pilots. The Whirlybirds bunch of John Barta, Adam & Mike Lasker, John Wilson,Kevin Bowers made it. The Flint/AA/Mason gang drifted in later in the afternoon Rich, Paul Johnson,Aaron Johnston. Others included Ford, Steve D, Big"D". Paul Binckley and several of his local guys helped fill the flight line and stands.
Another nice feature of any Chesaning funfly is the good food the ladies prepare. BBQ beef sandwiches or hotdogs, potato salad, fresh fruit medley, ice cold watermelon slices, homemade cupcakes, tacosalads, baked beans, chips, sodas, ice waters, lemonades. A real great lunch and a nice funfly for the bargain price of $10. A special treat was the cold well water station to rinse off your head or wetdown a towel for around your neck. After lunch it was back to more good flying.
To really add to all the good flying, Kevin did his magic on the cellphone and coaxed Bobby Watts to drive on up from Muncie as he was coming to Kev's for a photo-shoot for the new WHIPLASH heli on Monday. By 4 or 5 the hot flying was happening well into the evening with lots of laughs, goofs, and fun stories. Bobby really spanked the WHIPLASH electric for us, too bad the nitro was in the trunk of his car after meeting a tree the night before at the AMA 75TH Celebration. But with his WHIPLASH on the ground sporting a very very COOL green canopy, he was coaxed into flying the VERY BEST HELI, as Kevin describes his latest and greatest TREX700E 12S, Scorpion,Kontronics,V-bar electron smasher.
What's a guy to do? Bobby takes the TX and has a shot at Kevin's Best.
You couldn't wipe the smile off of Kev's (Puffy) face with his heli screaming along. But in the hands of the master, even the Vbar gave up some tail a few times. With Kev's baby back on the ground, hardly stressed in Kev's words, he was coaxed into pulling out the old temp gun to check his baby's health. No Problem according to Kev. Smile turned to a frown when the motor temp hit 185+, batteries 150 and only 7% left in the packs. You could say his bird had been properly spanked.
All in all, lots of good flying, by Scott,Aaron,Paul,Adam,Bobby,Darrel,Rich,Ford and many more. Not a single crash and a great save auto when a TREX700 wiped out it's main gear, sort of a group thing as all the pits yelled , "hit HOLD,AUTO" and the pilot pulled it off to perfection.
After packing up about 730 or so the gang from the Metro area played follow the leader to Joe's Garage/sports bar eatery for some more good food, cold drinks and lots of story telling. Inspite of the heat, it was just another great funfly. Nice job Paul, 25th funfly just as good as the first. Thanks again to Mike Lasker for your kind gesture for an old fart, my 57th birthday weeked was a good one. See you all in Lansing next weekend at Aaron&WildBills Excellent Adventure Heli Thing.

Dang wish we could have stayed longer but the heat was getting to my son. It was a first FunFly that I was part of since I only started praticing with a training gear last Sunday. Being a complete newbie I felt welcome at the event even though I knew noone there. A nice gentlemen offered us shade under his easy up and my son and I enjoyed watching everyone fly. And once in a while when the flight line was empty I slipped in a little practice. I was almost the only one to crash but saved it. Newbie hands. The lunch spread was awsome!
Thanks for a great day! When we got home I jumped online and ordered my nine year old his Blade mCPx after watching the guys fly them. Thanks for the show. My son is so excited. I will definitely attend events at this field anytime!
