I believe this poor heli has changed hands at least 3 or 4 times, but l think it's going to be with me for some time (unless a killer deal comes along). Last night my buddy Greg (Love for scale) from Omaha brought this to me on trade for my Huey. I've been wanting a large scaler for my SWAT figures for some time since selling my MD 530, so now I have it! A Vario MD 900 NOTAR. Going to come up with my own Police paint scheme as I dont plan on competing with it unless I find a scheme on the internet I really like.

BTW, does anybody have any good close up photos or walk arounds of the MD 900? I've done some searching and not finding good close photos.

I put one of my 12 inch figures next to it as size reference....

Agreed! It's size it's the main reason I wanted it. I looked at some photos with pilots or crew members in or around the heli, and the size difference looks 95% spot on.

Close enough for me.....

Ohhhh he had better! I put a lot of work into that Huey.

Until I break down the mechs to fit the floor of the 117 I'm going to give the 900 some needed attention. 1st fix the break and fracture in the rear cowl.

2nd, smooth out the rough cuts inALL the openings and sand off the epoxy drops and runs on the interior fiberglass mountings and formers as well as fuel proof the formers that hadn't been done

I'm not criticizing the previous builders, at least not meaning to, it's just the way I would have done it is all.

Greg, yeah I still have to order a 65 tooth main gear and 21 tooth clutch from Joe, then drill/tap the scorpion motor shaft to retain the skyfox clutch. But she's coming along...

Let me run the numbers, I may be able to run that 20 tooth clutch. Is it the aluminum drum, or the fiberglass drum from the Kobold?

Go to http://www.airliners.net

and type "MD 900" into the search box. You'll get at least 707 pictures of various MD 900's full color. Click the individual pictures to bring up much larger, high resolution, full color pics. This is an excellent site if you're looking for paint schemes of your favorite heli (or plane).

One of the pics from that site:

Thanks,

been on airliners.net quite a bit on some other projects. Good web site, I was just looking for closeups of various areas of the heli. I think one of the news stations here in KC has aquired one so I'll be checking at the downtown airport soon to see if I can get pics of it of the areas I'm wanting when I get ready to start on it.

I think your pilot is on the money, as the full size heli is circa 31ft (372 inches) long. The Vario fuse 1660cm (65 inches) long so a scale of 5.7:1

As your pilot is 12 inches (multiply by 5.7 scale) that would make him 68.5 inches or 5ft 8 inches tall.

Spot on I would say!!!

He who dies with the most toys is the winner!
