From what I've been told, they auto reasonably well - probably better than an R22

For those who are really interested I am a dealer for the Mosquito helicopters. There are five different versions and I have flown all of them. I am one of two people who has flown all five versions to include the Turbine so if you need info fire away. Take a look in my gallery and you will see. You can also see some video of me flying at these links:

Is the Moskito Air still available?

For the experimantal aircraft versions, did I see it correctly that all you need is a Pvt Plt Airplane Cert. Not a Rotory-Wing Certificate?

ch-47c,

No, if you fly any of the experimental versions of the Mosquito (XE, XE3 or Turbine) you will have to have at least a private helicopter certificate. The Mosquito Air and Mosquito XEL are legal ultralights and you don't need a pilot's license to fly either of them.

When I last spoke to a friend about his pilot's training, he said that the helicopter certificate will end up costing as much as $30,000 USD to acquire (I believe this was a total cost, and not additive to fixed wing training).

Rob43,

Yes, this is true therefore the cheapest way to get a helicopter license is to get the fixed wing knocked out first and then do the helicopter as an add on. Fixed wing training is much cheaper than helicopter and if you do the add on you will spend much fewer hours in the helicopter.

I sat in one of these at IRCHA, and the guy told me that if you put floats on it, then it qualifies as "experimental" and you don't need a helicopter certification to fly it.

Back in October I went to a local air show.
The SoCal dealer for Rotor FX had a Mosquito on display.

I could not get a better picture for all the people looking at it.
I picked up a spec/price sheet and UH-60PILOT is right about licensing. It is only required for the AIR and XEL models.

You can spend from $26200 for the AIR model up to over $57000 for the XET Turbine model.
They are sold here in SoCal at the Van Nuys Airport.

I would love to have one but until I win the lottery I will have to do without.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter
