I seen a job posting the other day. So I put in for it. Trying to better myself. The only thing I got back was sorry you are over qualified.

New Hampshire does not have the lowest unemployment in the Country. North Dakota has 3.8, South Dakota has 4.5 and Nebraska has 4.6.

Oops my bad,

I wrongly interrpeted that from this article:

http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2011...tune/index.html

Has more to do with job growth... still, 5.4% and job growth is pretty damn good.

What 5 states
The article has a "next" tab you have to click.

Tennesee
DC
Alabama
New Hampsire
Illinois

All 5 have job growth, but most are still in the 9%ish unemployment rate. NH has job growth and low unemployment, possibly a winning combo for those looking to get work?

I've filled out a million of them. Sometimes being a kissazz, sometimes being a hardazz, sometimes in between. There's really no good way to make any kind of impression via the internet. The problem is, most companies will not take a resume or app in person. It's just plain ridiculous.

those tests are a scam. The company evaluating them gets paid 500$ a pop to evaluate them... pays more to "fail" folks of course so thats what they do.

Central FL is a bust. I got laid off in September of 2010 and have only had one job interview. I can't even get a menial job at a Home Depot or anything. 13 years in the TV and video production and I can't get a job anywhere.

I hear you friend. I've been putting stuff out every single day for 2 years now and have had 1 interview w/ Lowes as a night stocker (no hire) and did get a job working at an old folks home, but the guy that hired me, got fired the day before I was to show up for work.
I'm limited on education (HS only) but have great work history (making some really good $$$)and I think that's what's killing me. Crappy jobs are out there, but they'll hire a half literate 19 year old because he "may" stay around a while.
Sad part is, I'd probably stay longer because I know how life is and I'd hang on to a job like grim death.
I love it when HR sends you back a form letter saying "we've decided to go in another direction for this position". What the heck does that mean??? I guess a 144IQ, great references and work history, mean absolutely nothing anymore. What don't they understand about "negotiable" being filled out on their application??? No matter what job I "MAY" get, I'll be making 1/2 of what I was 20+ years ago.

i had my email open the other day. as soon as i took that dysfunctional test from sears online, hit the submit button, i got rejected in my email.

so i emailed sears, which is in canada, and asked them why does their careers send me to a site called Jobs in Retail. and asked them is it age discrimination for jobs in retail to ask for my social security number if they are determining my age.

I understand what you're saying. I just did one today, typical.
It's a position w/ Home Depot, which I would be EXTREMELY good at and am more than qualified for, selling remodeling material and services in the home. Hmmmm. 25 years designing custom homes. Years of selling myself and retail sales. A few years in the field as a construction superintendant and also doing remodeling work myself....on and on.
I applied to this position 3 weeks ago. Never got a phone call. Now it's listed again as of today. How does that make any sense that nobody called, unless if they have some kind of BOT crawling over my resume'..???
Of course, most adds specifically say to not go in person. I tried that at Home Depot a while ago - WHEN THEY HAD A HUGE BANNER ON THE STORE SAYING "NOW HIRING". The manager wouldn't even come out and talk to me when I had both applied for several positions on-line and had a hard copy of my resume' in my hand, just trying to get in front of a human being.
I really can't figure out how the hell you can even get hired today.
I'm seriously considering changing my racial status to either black or Indian, if just to test my theory on being discriminated against because I'm a white male. It's been like this for 2 years now. I average 3-5 applications per day, 5-6 days per week.
