Taipan, well like you say, now you know! Funny because even when I was running a fairly heavy 15s Ion-x (5.5 kg = 12lb) I got more pop with 690's. Had to increase the collective pitch 1-2 degrees though.

Guess every heli (and it's power system) is different so results will vary. Thanks for giving it a go and reporting your results mate.

Look forward to seeing you guys at Coff's this May for the CY and BK show!

Cheers,
TomC

Every heli is different for sure. Like I'm still stratching my head why the 700E is nowhere as locked in as the ENV even though they have next to identical gear installed & similar Vbar setups.

CY? I haven't heard about him coming this year. Just Bobby & Bert.

Yep, see you at Coffs for the Bert & Bobby show! I remember last year or the year before seeing you with your name tag 'TomC' & meant to have a chat with you but you weren't there the whole event & didn't get a chance to.

Ya right, Bert and Bobby show, not CY (must have too much ENV on my mind).

Ditto! After flying the Rave ENV for the first time, the first thing I did was put the 700E up for sale! The Rave was much more precise and locked in...which is what I was looking for...not to take anything away from the 700E...its more of a smack down 3D machine...and not as refined as the Rave ENV.

I literally had to do push ups with my body weight on a spanner that was pushing the spindle through the headblock to get it through
A nice arbor press makes that job easy, in fact you have to be careful not to injure the dampeners.

Does Curtis offer an extended tail boom and shaft so a person could use 800mm blades on the Env?

On a thread I was reading, Edge is testing some 800mm FBL blades.
That would be very cool to try.

Yes, but as market demand increases, prices will drop. Also, competition helps!
Here's to hoping...

lol i woulnd't expect many manufactures to start coming out with 800's, cause barely anyone would use them IMO. The only reasons i can see for their use is AP work or possibly sport flying.

800mm blades are cheap and plentiful You can get NHP 800`s for 20/30 dollars more than 710`s. There are about half a dozen options.

I streched my ENV, but it wasnt as poppy with 800 blades. The bigger the heli, the slower it is it seems. Even seen a couple of TDR vids, where the heli looked sluggish.

BB did send me a message asking what i had used for the boom etc... maybe they have some testing in mind

The ENV is the best subjest to strech i recon, due to its already large presence, a longer boom and blades looks right at home, with the high stance and length of the mechanics and canopy. Drive train is entirely up to the task. Main gear is as tough as nails. I could see a thousand air hours on a AP setup, with a ENV. No trex would last that long unfortunately.

Chris, I can't remember if your running FBL or not. If so, could the agility settings be turned up to help compensate? The smaller the heli the quicker it seems though, like a 600 vs a 500 or 500 vs 450 ect.

Hi Band, the ENV is E FBL with totalg, and i tried a 3g unit as well. There is for sure tons of room for setup inprovements, but my sence was the power wasnt there, for the 800mm blades to really use, and they are not sposed to be used at high head speeds. I run mine for a couple of flights @ 2200, but it was torture on the motor and speedie, and it still didnt move like a hot 90.

Hey Kev if ya want to try out the stretch for the ENV i have here, drop us a line and ill send it over.

Cheers
