Final chapter, HORIZON HOBBY comes throughHello All; ZENOAH G20 EI in a RADIKAL G20 LT G10
I'm sure most of you have read the earlier posts. My frus
tration came from an engine that just wasn't destined to fly, I guess. But I never did find a red "remove before flight" tag on the engine.
I mailed the engine back to Horizon Hobby, 3 days mail each way and only 3 days at HH. I was able to keep in touch re: work order by email, that is good service too.
I did not send the original carb back with the engine. Because in my frustration with it, ( a lot of alum. particles in the passages, a loose float needle screw etc.,)
I disposed of the carb.
I wrote a detailed letter to the service dept. as to the issues I had with the engine. I also contacted them and requested a carb, which I offered to pay for. I have now installed the engine, complete with brand new carb,
AND spark plug. Horizon Hobby also put a new crankshaft in it, and apparently new crankcase as well. The engine starts darn near first crank hot or cold, I'm breaking it in, a bit of a rough idle but that is ok for now.
My earlier calls to them I had some dissapointments, possibly a new hire on the phones? That is now done, I don't care.
BUT, what I do really care about is that HORIZON HOBBY repaired the engine, AND gave me a new carb and plug at no cost.
I'm writng to HH with a letter to express my complete satisfaction in the end.
I'm really impressed now with the service, simply, I could not have asked for any better service. Too bad that my earlier engine hard starting problems caused damage to the Radikal's frames. Frustrations here and many many weeks lost with engine issues could have been eliminated if there was some one to call for help.
Thanks also to the many readers here that wrote to offer help, much appreciated. The wealth of knowledge available on here makes the hobby enjoyable, I tip my hat to the contributors.
Now, I ask, why is it that now I am ready to rack up some hovering time that it is averageing -20 to -28 degress? F OR C doesn't matter it is cold either way.
it is best to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt
