Over the past 15 years I have only had two contacts with the service department. Futaba is very reliable and usually does not need repair. One was a servo that started acting up after 10 flights and they promptly sent me a new one at no charge. The other was crash repair of a FASST receiver. They fixed it quickly but the price was a little high but it got me back in the air quickly.

I am very interested in the price of the new mini S-Bus receiver. Did they have a price on it at the AMA convention?

Will the CGY750 offer a bail out mode?

I suspect the answer will be no

The CGY750 is probably designed for 3D and competation flyers and not beginners. Maybe they will make a beginner’s version in the future.

If you want auto leveling get a SK720. I have one that that function works very well.

Hi

I need to make a choice: maybe i can get some advice, with the futaba gyro coming out soon, i would like to go all out converting my electric raptor 90 to fbl with an align 700 head, my question, i have an old jr x378 radio using spcm which i really still like despite of all the 2.4 ghz hype. (yes i know how good 2.4 is but i'm not having any issues with my x378 )

Now, is it going to be a pain fine tuning the gyro with what i beleive will be a system coming out to make the gyro and radio compatible?

Or should i just go ahead and get a Futaba 10CAG. I really like my Jr radio and even thinking about upgrading to a Jr 9XII.
However i want the Futaba CGY750 fbl to work hassle, with all its features and without too many wires and systems clogging my heli inside ??

Don’t get the 10C as it’s an older design with no upgrade or TM capability. The 8FGH would be the best deal. It’s a 8+2 channel radio. It cones with an 8-channel S-Bus receiver but 10 channels are available on the bus. There is also a free firmware upgrade that’s in beta testing that upgraded it to 12+2 channel capability. If you want more bells and whistles get the 12FGH.

The sbus support would really be nice thanks for that info, i also like the fact that telemetry features are built into the radio.

The 12FGH might be a little out of my budget range and the 8FG considered.

How about the 10CAG, it's not the plain old 10C
10CAG:

Does this one also support sbus and telemetry, or only the 12FGH and the 8FG ?

NO Futaba radios currently have telemetry. You may be confusing the ability to control/set gyro gains from the TX,which is a function with the Futaba TX's.
As far as the radio, the 8FG is a much better choice than the 10. The 8FG is software updateable and the 10 IS NOT. Plus, the 8FG will do everything the 10 will and maybe a little more.

The 10CAG has no user upgrade capability. It does not have an SD card. For TM you need firmware upgrade capability after the TM receivers come out. Both the 8FGH and 10CAG are 8+2 channels so there is no reason to get a 10CAG.

Sbus if a receiver function so all you need is an sbus receiver.

Converting from JR/Spektrum to Futaba 8FG and S.Bus Rx in anticipation of the new CGY750.

Does anyone know at this stage if the CGY750 will ship with a CIU-2?

Thanks.

ok, but what does Dr.Ben mean here then?
Exactly. That's how the various firmware revisions have been funnelled to Matt, Kyle, and Bobby along the way. We received one 701 revision right before general release of that product as well. As the Brits say, "it works a treat."

Futaba will never ship the CIU-2 included with the gyros or FBL unit. The reason being it's an optional item, you don't have to have it to program or fly their electronics.

What Ben was referring to is software updates from Futaba are installed via the CIU-2. So if you want to upgrade the software down the road then yes you need to buy this optional item. This is no different then many other electronics where the USB interface is optional (i.e. Spartan, Kontronik, Castle, etc).

Exactly what AnthonyL said. You DO NOT need the CIU interface to run or program the CGY-750, all can be done from the gain box itself. IF you wish to update the unit down the road, if updates are issued, then you will need the CIU interface.

Ok 8FG it will be then, just still don't know how i can turn my back on jr just like that after all these years, i really like their radios

But if i have to for they leave me no choice and thinking of all the gadded features of the whole futaba deal, i suppose then they elave me no other choice.

What does the sd card do ? do you put software on it to upgrade the tx or is it for model memory only ? You know what what would be nice, the day you get a program on your pc so you can custom tune you radio and
click the mouse button to assign and mix channels etc... Best of all,
they need to make it use the radio's own 2.4 transmission to conenct to the pc, no wires !

T-heli that would only require a Bluetooth chip to have that wireless interaction, maybe one day but it's not like we have it that bad now.

SD Card uses:
1. Extends the number of models you can have.
2. You can transfer transmitter setups to your PC for backup
3. You can use it to upgrade your transmitter firmware.
