It doesn't make sense to me to pay 4 or 5 hundred bucks for a Jive Esc if you are going to use the new vbar gov so which ecs's are you guys going to use? What is a good, robust, bang for the buck Esc?

I am a huge kontronic fan, but will probably try a cc hv120 with the new vbar gov on a 12s logo 600se setup.

From what i've gathered so far, the kontronics ESC's have a throttle delay in airplane mode (you would use airplane mode when using the vbar gov) thus making it not function very well with the vbar gov.

All of the videos I've seen are using CC ESCs with great vbar gov performance.

Will a HV 120 be enough, or will a 160 be better?

i'm using an hv 80 on my 12s logo 600 and it keeps pretty cool, i'd say 80 would be fine, 120 would be fine too, 160 would be overkill.

I'm still really curious to see how this new Vbar gov is going to even work. Since it's not part of the ESC I'm assuming it will require using a mechanical pick-up (i.e. nitro style gov).

Either way, I'm with you, if the gov is inside the Vbar then the draw of the Kontronik is even less now.

I am thinking, and of course I could be wrong, but the developers of the new V-bar setup up a machine swinging 800mm blades and a CC 120 ESC. I "thought" I read that the V-Bar was designed around the CC esc...

I just have a hard time believing Mikado would design anything around Castle considering their close tie with Kontronik...

Would I happy to see them do something for the Castle owners like myself, absolutely!

There is a video floating around somewhere that shows the prototype flight of the new V-Bar swinging 800mm blades. If I am not mistaken (again, could be for sure), they had a CC esc on the prototype. I have "heard" the Kontronic is difficult to get to play nice in the sandbox with the new V-bar...

I am going to use a CC HV 110 AMP ESC on my 89" AJ SLick 540. That coupled with the 12S Lipos will kick some arse Castle Creations does have a nice ESC...but...if you get on the wrong side of the SPC bell curve...OUCH!

It looks like the folks that make Edge blades and Voltz batteries are coming out with a line of speed controllers. That could make for another interesting option. I love Kontronik gear but I have to believe quality electronics can be made for a bit less cost.

Super jealous of the AJ Slick, if/when I get another plank that is on the top of my list. I actually already have a Phoenix HV 110 in another plane I could use.

P.S. Just got done loading and configuring the latest Castle software on my 4 year old Phoenix HV 85. It's going to find a new home in my Logo 500SE. This ESC has seen countless flights of 10S and never let me down.

The ESC used in the previously posted test video was a CC 80A in airplane mode in a prototype TDR swinging 800mm blades.

+1 That's what I'm waiting for too...the Ampz ESC's that RevCo is releasing this year. I want to run the V-Bar governor on my Castle ESC's and an Ampz first before I decide to go with the big K!

I wonder what the head speed was. Sounded really low. Just curious?

I cannot remember the head speed BUT I believe you are correct in that it was very low in retrospect. I believe Dave Dahl knows the head speed he was running...
