Here is my EXI 450 Pro TT. Get ready for a bunch of pictures.

Everything that is needed to build. I did order thrust bearing grease after this picture. A Phillips head screw driver is also necessary.

Close up of tools. The MIPs are amazing. The pink Dynamite is pretty good and the E-flite is OK.

Here are my T-Pro SG90 cyclics, Emax ES20A tail servo, and Detrum GY48V gyro.

Hobbywing 40Amp Platinum ESC and Sonix 3500 KV motor

Dynam Supermate LiPo balance charger and 2200mAh 30C Sky LiPo

Spektrum AR6200 RX

Kit out of the box

"Upgrades!"

Time to start building!
Remove tail boom

Remove one frame side.

Put on braided sleeving for servos.

Remove bearing blocks.

Install elevator servo. Use an "L" wrench to tighten screws.

Install pitch and aileron servos.

Reinstall bearing blocks.

Mount motor and ESC.

In my frustrations here I forgot about the pictures a bit. As you'll notice my CNC tail servo mount is now plastic. The CNC one has the servo sitting up too high and I kind of stripped out one of the mounting holes. I also stuck on the gyro and put on the other frame half.

Frustration number 2. One of the aluminum hexagonal bolts wasn't threaded, which means I couldn't tighten the boom. So I ordered some Align ones and guess what. One of them wasn't threaded either! Luckily I was able to gather up enough good ones to mount the boom For extra tightness I wrapped a layer of clear tape around the boom. I pulled as hard as I could and it was't coming out.

Here are some final pictures. Notice how EXI cloned the canopy design and colors as well.

Other things to note. EXI assembled the tail grips wrong. I could not fully tighten them without binding. So I took apart the grips and compared to the Align manual. My tail grips were as follows: screw, bearing, spacer, spacer, grip, bearing, tail rotor hub. According to the Align manual it should be as follows: screw, spacer, bearing, grip, bearing, tail rotor hub. Once I fixed my grips, I was able to tighten my screws down all of the way without any binding. You may have also noticed that by the end of the build I flipped my tail grips. The canopy just hit the main gear. So you may notice that the yellow is a bit thinner on the left hand side of the canopy when tail is facing you. Normal house hold scissors sand sand paper took care of it beautifully. Also a normal drill allowed me to put in the canopy's O-rings. If you are careful enough, you can use normal "tools", no dremel or reamer needed. Also the only screws that came thread locked out of the box were the bearing block screws. YMMV. The blades also came perfectly balanced. If you aren't a fan of Align's super combo electronics, I would recommend this kit. All that you may have to replace is the tail servo mount and possibly the hexagonal bolts in the boom block. Also check your tail grips.

I just got the belt version of this heli and noticed the grips to be loose. I'm going to recheck the order of the parts as well. Thanks for the heads up.

The other thing I noticed on the tail is that (on the belt version at least) the tail rotor shaft has some play in it like the bearing's are worn or the tolerance is too low. I'm severly disappointed in this. I've only hovered this heli and worked on tracking/swash adjustment so no issues flying yet.

Just subcribed. I'll post results, findings and videos of mine as well. For 67$ it's not a bad heli. Got mine rigged with HS 65's, CC ICE lite 50, scorpion 2030kv on 6S, Futaba 401/9650 on tail.

yes the ICE handles 6S and that's how I run it.

Another thing to note. The main blade grip bearings and tail shaft bearings are crap and very loose tolerance. Going to get align on my next order. I'm about to hack down my frame for 6S so my canopy doesn't look stupid.

Yep, just went through the tail grips and indeed the order of the bearings/spacers was wrong as stated in the op. Switching now and will check the main grips as they are loose as well.

According to the Align manual it should be as follows: screw, spacer, bearing, grip, bearing, tail rotor hub.

Edit: Just went through the head/grips again. I had to put an align washer inside of each washer that butress the feather shaft bolts. This tightened up the head significantly without causing too much binding. If I tighten too much I can cause a slight bind so just red loctited tight, but not too tight.

Update. I have converted to FBL with a miniVbar and RJX FBL head. The warped main and autorotation gears/hubs were replaced with aligns and this decreased the overall vibs that I was getting on my miniVbar spectrum analizer. Changed over to align swash because the soft metal on the EXI swash striped on the elevator ball link. I also put on a microheli tail but lost a grip pin yesterday so will put on the EXI tail back on. I checked the grip parts order and they are set up as aligns manual but still have some play that I am attributing to poor grip bearings. The inner race wobbles too much thus causing the grips to wobble slightly. Still flies ok.

My gallery has a couple of vids. None as FBL yet. Well actually use my gallery to go to my youtube. From there, you should be able to see a couple of EXI vids in there as FB.
