From the Chicago Tribune, 1934. Still true today.

Not every one will recognize the characters shown (only us really old farts) but it still holds true, just new characters.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

That's how they managed to keep the depression going right up to WW2. Obama's going to keep this one going till WW3!

Those that ignore their history (or choose to ignore it) are doomed to repeat it. The sad thing is that a large majority of our nation runs with blinders on and fail to understand the importance of our history

You got that right.

We just closed out the 111th Congress with an 83% disapproval rating. In addition, that same Congress put us another $3 trillion in debt in just 2 years. Thats comes to a total of $5 trillion in debt for the 4 years of Palosi in charge.

What stupid bunch of idiots voted those clowns in office?

We did.

Who could see that coming?

Obviously, not enough people.

We need an excellent watchdog group in DC to report on our congress. We have news reports and various groups that have their own interests, but we don't have a really good watchdog group that has credibility to do the job.

I think we already do.

At least, I hope we already do.

Its called the "Tea Party"

Thats the best we got. If that don't work, then we are lost and America gets flushed down the drain of history for the benefit of the weeny elites in DC.

Because the "news" media no longer will do their job and report in an unbiased way we are stuck with what leaks out of DC through the internet and by filtering through the propaganda bombarding us daily from the Whitehouse controlled mass media.
Thankfully we still have a few outlets that broadcast the truth.

You're right. The "Tea Party" is all we have right now. And I guess we will have to limp along with them as best we can.

I used to send all my political contributions to the Repubs. They need to re prove themselves to my satisfaction. I ain't holding my breath for them.

Now, I send it to the Tea Party.

My contributions to the Repubs used to be quite substantial each each. But, the last 2 years of Bush, they lost their nuts to the Dems and Palosi. During that time, they would call me at least once a month for more money.

Each time I told them to go suck and egg until they did something with the illegals.

Then, when the Tea Party came about, They got my contributions from then on. Its a fraction of what it used to be as I am retired now. But, I feel anything is at least somewhat of a message.

I don't have much faith that the Repubs are ever going to prove themselves again. Especially if we did NOT have the Tea Party. To many elite little pr#cks have been there to long on both sides. Thats why I feel very strongly that the Tea Party is all we got for the foreseeable future.

Just sayin

The only way I'll note "Party Line" for the forseeable future is Tea Party....The Repubs had many chances, and far too many of them are like McCain.....

Yeah, its kinda funny. I used to get regular e mails from the McCain campaign asking for contributions.

I would always respond with a question:

Are you are you are a Repub?

I did vote for the old coot though. To me, the alternative was far worse. That surely has proven true.

Now, I just wish McCain would retire with dignity instead of hanging around and making an old fool of himself.

Very similar to my story. Expect I changed at the four year mark. I told the Repubilicans that I hope they lost every election until someone in Washington was listening to the American people.

They tried to complain they were outnumbered and needed MY money to get their numbers back up. I gave them the old "not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog" speech.

They stopped calling me. I must be on a "do not call" list. I didn't tell them to stop calling me, they decided that on their own.

Yeah, they finally got the message from me as well. They were just like the Dems. They were not listening to the people that hired them. They lost their balls and their conservative roots. Still have as far as I am concerned.

Without a possible third party like we have potential in the Tea Party, the Repubs would simply move merrily on like they have the last 10 years or so and suck up to the Dems who have been very successful in convincing them they are evil. How stupid can that be?

I don't blame anybody that didn't want to vote for McCain. I didn't want to vote for him either...but I did.

I made a spreadsheet of all the candidates and discovered that I couldn't stand any of them.

Huck or Allen West......I'd love Allen West because then we, as conservatives, could play the race card like the moonbats do.
