I am getting ready to install my rudder controls. Does anybody have any measurements of where to place the pushrod guide on the boom? How do you secure the guides in place? Any other helpful dimensions (other than the basics like servo horn at 90 deg etc.)? Thanks

I just space the guides evenly and I put a piece of wire tie end in the top of my quides to hold them in place . Slide it under the quide with a small screw driver making the opening big enough to slide it under it.I do not like to glue them as I can move it and re use them if I have to.

just a lil trick

if you use CA (super glue) on your guides you can always

either steal the wifes or go buy your own nail polish remover
(acetone) it loosens the glue wala makes reuisng the guides easy.

i use a q-tip and dab some around the edge of the guides and waait about 45 seconds or a minute and rotate the guide loose.

Thanks, i'll space about 8" and I think I'll have to use tie wraps as my guides are very loose. I think they are toose to have ca hold them in place. Good suggestion on the nail polish, didn't know that.

i learned the hard way with ca
i always got in a rush to get the guides on and broke one trying to pry it off. someone mentioned to me nailpolish remover worked better sooo.
if i get in a hurry and miss my mark i just loosen the mess up wipe off the remover, let it dry or re spray denatured alcohol on it to clean it then reposition and glue it

ive always used a zip tie. slip a small zip tie under the hoop,(it will make it under) and then just cut the excess off. they stay in place nicely. easy on and easy off.

i use these general purpose clear scotch tape, they are really thin and very clear and sticky. i wrap around the boom like about two to two and a half turn or until the guides is almost imposible to slide on the tape and i lightly heat the guides with a heat gun to soften the plastic and it easily slide over the tape. when the guide cools down it hold solid in place. i can easily readjust the guide later by lightly warming up the guide with a heat gun again.

as for keeping the guide properly spaced out, i just take the total length of the boom and devided by four and mark on the boom the devided length and wrap the tape over the mark.

piece of cake

I ended up using the small zip ties in he kit. Definitely put it under some tension. Looks like a little too much tension but seems to be working.
