Hi guys,

I know the 8FG has been out for a while but I recently got a chance to pay attention to it because I have been using 10C for the last 3 years...

Now I learned that 8FG has 8 proportional channels plus 2 switch channels making it total 10...
Himmmm... what a coincidence 10C has the same thing...

2048 resolution on 8FG, I guess 10C stops at 1024!!!

Ball bearings gimbals on 8FGs. Do we even have them on 10C?

I would always like the backlit screen on 10C, oppss 8FG has the same thing...

An SD card expansion for hundreds of additional models and a firmware upgrade option. Wow very nice!... Wanna upgrade the firmware on 10C(if it is possible)? Then get ready to ship it to Futaba...

SensorTouch programming and 1700mAh battery pack!!! Very classy...
I believe legendary 10Cs are still shipped with those 700mAh baby packs... 700mAh plenty of capacity, why do we need more

I found one thing though both of them have perfectly in common: they both have elcheapo looking and feeling outer case and look ugly. Futaba really doesn't make an exception on its 6 to 10 channel radios when it comes to look. All look pretty ugly huh!..

Well, can somebody tell me a few features that 10C can do and 8FG can NOT so I can still feel a bit better here?!!!

I have owned both and like my 8FG more. More programming features and balances off a neck strap without any ugly looking hooks.
Other thing about the SD card is you can update your radio on your own, no need to sent it in.
8FG is a better radio than the 10C, but I must say the 10C also does the job.

That's excatly my point...

I wonder who is going to pay $200 more for a fake 10C radio with this user upgradeable 8FG in the market?

10c is 2048 as well
10c has 7 point pitch/throttle curves
10c has a swash ring
10c has an extra front rotary dial (very useful for fbl gain control)
10c has two rear proportional sliders
10c has larger screen

Not saying 10c is better but the extra controls suit me better.

8FG has similar functionality as the 12FG and 14MZ in example Swash mixing.

Had a 10CG as well, sold it, don't regret it at all.

ModelGuard,

Thanks for your input but I really don't see what you listed justify the few hundred dollars difference between the two radio Tx.

Some of those features (and MORE) can easily be added to 8FG with a simple firmware update.

I would prefer the extra channels over the 2 sliders personally.

10C has extra an extra rotary dial!!! That means nothing to me. I don't think I have ever found it useful

The only thing that 10C has over 8FG is the larger screen as far I can see...

FUTABA is definitely NOT being fair wth these two systems and their pricing...
One must be an idiot to buy a 10C out of the Futaba line radio control systems.
If I come across someone wanting to buy a 10C system, I will personally persuade that person not to do so...

You either use the sliders and rotary dials or you dont. However if you do then a thousand firmware updates wont be able to add hardware. As I said I am not saying the 10c is better just that the extra hardware suits my and other peoples setups.

You shouldn't feel bad about the 10C. At the time you bought it, the 8FG was not around. You can't really compare the two in terms of what to buy now because the 8FG has the advantage of being the newer product. It includes a lot of what Futaba has learned about software and trickled (actually poured) down to the middle level radios having developed it in the flagship product. For a relatively narrow segment of the market, the 10C remains a viable choice because it comes with the 14 Ch receiver and the added dials and switches that have been mentioned. For everyone else, the eCCPM mixers, BB sticks, SD card functionality, low latency, etc, etc. make it the choice to buy today.

I have a 10c and yes I got it before the 8fg came out.
But I see no need to sell it. Very happy with this tx, it feels right in my hands.

Just for the record, both radios have the same number of channels; 8+2. The 8FG also has rear sliders and swash ring.

I was considering a big change, as I want to switch to futaba and WAS considering the 10c, but I may reconsider now.

I really like the look of the 10c much better. Tell me, which radio is more comfortable to fly?
