F3C
Great thanks Ben,

It's an easy set up. Balls on the see saw in the furthest out of the three hole choices. Look at the standard bell mixer position. Take the mixer and remount 180 D flipped so that the pivot bolt goes in from the other side (through the other bearing first). Now, with the mixer remounted on the blade grip, put the ball that goes to the long rod down to the swash in the furthest OUT hole position and on the innner side (ball facing the head block) of the of the bell mixer. On the other side of the mixer, mount the ball in the second hole out from the pivot hole. This ball faces outward.

For aerobatics, set the cyclics to about +/- 7 degrees to start. The stock paddles are fine. Weight them up as much as you can while still being able to get through several consecutive rolls in a timely fashion. For hover, we normally use about +/- 3 degrees. Set it to whatever feels comfortable to you. Remember this set up is optimized for stability and precision. It'll feel kinda dead compared to a 3D set up until you get used to it. Run about 1650 rpm in hover and 2000 for aerobatics.

I've got mine setup for FAI style flying with the following details:

- Blades: Rotortech 615 (H266101)
- Stock paddles with weights
- Stock blue plastic tail blades
- Mixer arm flipped (follow Dr. Ben's post)
- Flybar carrier ball mounted on outer most hole
- Hovering pitch curve: -4, +4, +8
- Idle-up pitch (aeros): -10, 0, +10
- Idle-up cyclic pitch: +/-6 with no binding on the head
- Cyclic servos: Futaba S9255 (centering and movements are very precise !)
- Gyro: Futaba GY520 (previously using GY401 but found that the GY520 is much more smoother on the tail)
- Tail Servo: Futaba BLS251

The other thing I did was to balance the heli slightly nose heavy as I found that the stock setup (with fuel tank 3/4 full) is tail heavy. I've added several weights in the canopy to balance it out and this does make a big difference in rolls - previously with a tail heavy setup, performing a roll would kill the forward speed of the heli. Now I can roll and still maintain forward speed.

I don't use any governor, it's all purely throttle curves. I run pretty low curves in hovering (hovers around 30% throttle curve) and this produce a nice calm heli with a locked in feel. When I switch to Idle-Up, the engine roars to live with a 100%, 55%, 100%, U-shaped curve.

Do you have a picture of the head with your mods done to it?
Im a bit "lost in translation" on some things you mention. A pic would help clear it up.

THanks
