I don't know if this has been posted yet. Using standard frames and removing just 4 of the plastic stand-offs, the Scorpion Eagle mount fits perfectly.

Just add a couple of washers for spacing on the servo frames, that's it.

Good idea, especially for those who find Ruedi's mount cost prohibitive.

Luixitoyo,

Nice job(both of you), which motor are you going to use on 12S and which gearing?
Is it going to be the stock 95 Evo main gear with 10T pinion to get the right gearmesh?
Are you able to use upper bearing for motorshaft support?

I'm asking because I've got a pair of plastic lower frames lying around here.

Happy New Year to all of you!!

PS: I looked again closely and see that you are using Scorpion mount for 5020 series motor.

I will have my motor in next few days because they are out of stock.
I will have a 5020-450 with 95/11 originl gearing with a home made pinion adapter. Today, I also order the new 11teeth pinion for electric motors from hirobo, the one who uses the original Hirobo conversion for Eagle 3 SWM.

Given that the new E E3 has completely adjustable gear mesh, did you check to see if the diameter of the new 11 T E3 pinion is the same as the old Freya one? PM CHiatt here on RR. He should know.

Mine is for hovering practice only and its why I decided to use plastic frames that I have had for many years.

With my light loading and a 400 KV motor, I will test pinions for fit and then decide on 10S, 11S or 12S to give the RPM I want.

In my setup I don't really need the top bearing block if I don't want too, my application helps with this and lets me mix and match.

No, in the new Eagle they eliminated the one piece bearing block and went with independent blocks for everything. They may have elected to optimize the tooth shape for the best mesh with each of the option pinions rather than simply adjusting diameter to make one size fit all as they did in the Freya series of models.

Nice work Luixitoyo. I wanted another 5020, that is what I have in the Freya EX. For me it is a wonderful combination on 95T 11T.

I went up to see Lucien @ Scorpion yesterday, and they still don't have the 5020 in stock. I picked up a HK-4035-400 and the E3 mount that is appropriate.

It is nice that they can support the 25mm or 30mm motor spacing with two different mounts.

Given the well know gearing limitations with the Eagle IF you use the top bearing support, I'm still using 11/97 with 4035 500 with my top bearing adapter. It ran flawlessly all last season. No gear wear, no bearing problems, no problems at all. I have no plans to change it out. I could gain some efficiency by dropping back to a 450 kV 5020, but that ESC needs a 120HV ESC. I'd like to avoid adding that extra weight over the 80HV I now use with great results.

Cliff said that the different pinions that come with the conversion are different diameter.
Ben, are you using a regular 11t pinion on your eagle with 97t gear?
I think that could be a good idea to use the new electric 11t pinion from Hirobo with a 97 gear and the 5020-450 on the Eagle 3 VPUS... what do you think about it?

On the Freya, I will put the original 11t pinion with a homemade Rudiger like pinion adapter and 95t gear.

I've have found the E3 mount has enough adjustment to let the motor shaft just hook into the top bearing after I switched the order of the 10mm and the 6mm bearings. After trying the 12T, then the 11T with full top bearing support, the Scorpion 11T gives a great mesh, just enough for some expansion. So I ended up with a top bearing support after all.

I have a Revco 11 tooth pinion in mine. Cliff's son Daniel tried a Scorpion pinion in his Eagle with the stock top bearing support, and he felt the mesh was too tight. The 11 T Revco was too loose in my model, hence the custom insert I made. I would be great if the 11T E E3 pinion would fit correctly. Need to measure and/or fit the latter and see how it feels. That darn E3 bearing spacing that was borne out of the E3 ONLY 12T pinion used in the nitro E3's makes this all more challenging.
