It is sorta pressed on, there is a tapered collar on the crankshaft that centers the fan and tightens as the chank nut is tightened. The best way is to use the fan removal tool from MinAir. You loosen the crank nut , unscrew it to the end of the crank, bolt the tool to the fan with the two bolts included, tighten the large center bolt against the crank nut, keep tightening the bolt then the fan will pop off. I'll second what the others have posted. That tool is extremely useful. You can fashion one yourself, but if you plan on keeping the older MinAir birds in your hanger ( I have a bunch ) then that tool is a necessity. I've used it as well as loaned it quite a few times. You'll be glad that you have one when you need it.

I has saved me many times. Back in the olden days, we would even put a couple of wraps of teflon tape on the collet to help with removal and still had to use the tool.

Hi

On the hf forum MA section, there is a "MA Techno Central - Tools", where you can see the Fan tool (homemade)
