Can you charge a liFe battery with a lipo charger or is there a special charger for them? Also, can I get some feedback on the best setup for a TREX 700 Nitro running Align servos? DS650 for tail and 610's for everything else. Is this a good choice?

That's perfect servos for your 700.

Almost every Lipo charger will charge LiFe batteries.
Set the voltage to 3.3 volts per cell and it sets up for LiFe automatically.

I like the LiFe packs because I don't need a voltage regulator.

You might want a step down for the tail servo but I don't use one.

Been running LiFe on my 700 since it was new, about 1.5 yrs. It has Align 610's on swash and Hitec on the tail & throttle. I don't use a regulator or stepdown anywhere, no switch either.

Your charge *must* be specifically capable of LiFe, do not use LiPo charging settings, they are different beyond just the voltage. There are some inexpensive chargers that are capable of LiFe and Lipo, I use a Turnigy 6S charger.

Let me add that all MY chargers have been capable of charging LiFe packs.

I haven't seen a lithium charger yet that won't.

I have two Turnigy chargers now.
AC-6 and a MAX200W.
I've had a few others.Hyperion,Triton and another I can't remember.

They were all type specific LiFe chargers as well as LiPo.

But like mentioned above, don't use a charger that isn't made for LiFE batteries but good luck finding one that's not.

I literally never use the word literally right.

Go find a short pier dude.
Then take a long walk down it.
I said not to use a charger that isn't made for LiFe packs.

So you've shown us two chargers that don't charge LiFe packs....
Shall I show you the hundreds that DO???

I have been flying my 700 with the 610's and 650 on the tail driven by a GY520. Have not had any issue of not running a regulator. The 650 is spec't for 6 volts. The only thing is somebody told me
you can not check voltage after flights due to a life battery will always read 6 volts and then drop off when and or near being dead
I can usally get 5 flights before a recharge and not put more than 1700mah back into a 3300mah pack.

You'd need a voltage regulator or BEC.
