ModelGuard

This new product will warn you if you try to fly with the wrong model chosen on your transmitter.
As soon as power is applied to the receiver, ModelGuard will either sound a twin note to let you know all is well or a long two tone blast should you have the wrong model chosen at the transmitter.
I believe this product will make heli flying safer for your models and others.
here is a video showcasing ModelGuard...

I use the tried/proven and accurate method of "preflight" and have never had an issue selecting the wrong model. And it doesn't cost me $25 and a slot in the RX.

Wonder why he cut off one of the antennas?

preflight checks are obligatory of course but if you think about it most helicopters will seem the same when checking. ie the swash will still move up and down with collective and the swash will tilt forwards and backwards when elevator is applied.
In the air things will be very different between models.
ModelGuard does not have to use up a receiver slot you can use a 'Y' lead to connect to any channel.

Oh and I broke off the antenna by accident and now use it to precheck the units.

Main problem i see with this is you need an extra free channel to use it. Look like the little unit memorize an output off an extra channel, which is not 100% error prof, but its not a bad idea.

Good idea. I knew it was just a question on time before someone thought of how to do this...just might have to buy some.

You can easily use a existing channel by running a 'Y' lead. Lets say you use the gyro gain channel. You just plug in the ModelGuard alongside your gyro plug. As long as the gyro gain is around 3-5 points different on each model that will work fine. Or just use the gyro channel on one model and the aileron on the next etc. ModelGuard only reads the gain it does not affect it.

Good point. We decided not to go that route. ModelGuard is passive after it has done its job and does not interfere with anything. Any system that cuts the throttle or switches the power would need to be active and could be a risk in itself. It would also be much heavier. ModelGuard weighs less than 5 grams

ModelGuard makes it pretty clear if you try to power up the wrong model!

I agree with the way the model guard works. Being passive means less things could go wrong.
