Ideally, within a few mm. If you use Radioshack rare earth magnets, the distance becomes noticeably less critical.

I will try that. Im looking at about 4mm with the holes provided in a shrimok mount. I was wondering if that was too much. It looks it. The mount is difficult to get to once the heli is assembled. I will try those magnets. Any clue what size? I can measure if you dont. Thanks-Jay
