Yes,that way you can lower the throttle% in gov mode/fixed end points. If your around 75% in gov mode, the esc has 25% throttle to use when the head speed drops. If you don't know what I mean,im sure someone will explain it better.

what would make the hs drop unless the lipo went low ?

id imagine a heli would have more issues with over rev when doing stunts then hs drop .

and thanks im learning and i know you know what your talking about unlike Ernie.

Qrrambero,
They Electrifyed your pocket ,just messing .But for real, don't show that to your wife ..

wc_wickedclown,
Once you get into 3D and lots of loaded moves, the headspeed can drop alot.Even if you have brand new packs, you can still loose a good amount of headspeed during consistant loaded moves. The gov on a electric works the same way as gov's on nitros.

This is where the Kontronik gove shines. The Kontronik is better at controlling the HS so there is very little HS drop on demand and very little over rev when the head is unloaded.
The Jives's use the headroom and thus maintaining the HS under all conditions better.
A certain pilot (who shall remain nameless ) came to the field yesterday with his CC equipped 700 and the HS was all over the place. It could not maintain it during hard maneuvers and it was overspeeding when the head unloaded. Maybe it was the packs, or the setup but I tell you it was nowhere near as this person advertised especially when they are extremely "knowledgable" about setups

Darn Ron, already talking smack before noon?

Yeah, I agree completely, that flight the packs just couldn't handle the abuse anymore(Turnigy). That's the last time I will ever listen to a certain keyboard pilot endorse a cheap set of HK batteries...

Anyone interested in how well a Castle ESC can maintain headspeed, please reference the videos below. This is definitely not the most consistent setup I've produced, but one must consider that this particular machine is only running a 6S power system, while swinging 600mm blades. This is a Castle ICE 100. Videos were taken a little over a year ago, the current CC firmware is MUCH more refined.

Big +1 on the Turnigys and Keyboard pilots.I made a comment about them being duds for hard flying around 50 cycles and got internet jumped by people that claim to get 200 or so cycles .Take care of your packs, they last a long time, what a crock .

In the videos Al posted, I did notice some overspeeding. That has been my own experience with the CC. CC will overspeed more than a KT, but who cares on an electric model. It's not like the engine will blow like on a nitro bird.

Oh come on LonR, nobody jumped you on the Nitro vs Electric thread for you claim of low battery cycle life. They just had different experiences with their packs.

The person I thnk you may consider jumped on you, Blades345, likes to fly cheaper packs in case of a crash. Not a bad reason to buy inexpensive packs. I've seen you both fly. He is as good a pilot as you and can punish a pack. I know his packs last a lot longer than 50 flights as he marks each pack after a flight. There is also someone in our club that put over 200 hard flights on a cheap FlightMax pack in his T-Rex 500. I think most know the 500 is not easy on packs, especially at 2700-2800 headspeed this guy flies.

I will agree that some packs don't last very long (50 flights or so) without giving up some power. I found that to be the case with the 40C Flightmax packs in my 12S Logo 600. But, the drop in power in not unacceptable. I notice it more when I switch to my Turnigy nanotech packs which have the same number of flights without any noticable loss of power.

You have to be blind if you can't see the smart mouth comments were to me..Go read what was said before posting like you just did.How about reading this one with the name calling https://rc.runryder.com/p5144878/ .Everyone is a tuff guy with the screen infront of them huh.
Maybe you missed this one https://rc.runryder.com/p5144935/ .
Other people even said something about it but here you are defending him, read the thread bro..

I also mark every flight with each pack so I don't need some Pro know it all trying to tell me how long my packs last.Yeah,he was cool to talk to until thug came out.
Im done talking about it so it you wanna stick up for him,be my guest.

Al I did not tell you to get Turnigy packs, you said that was all you could afford. You even borrowed packs for a while from someone else. Funny how the smack talk gets loud on the forum bit at the field you are quiet.....wonder why?
Lon claimed in another thread to be running 3200 on the head of his Protos maybe that is why he is killing packs
WC, if you are building this heli over time, go to the next funfly and see both ESCs in action. Then make the choice for yourself.
Btw the Jives have a mode 11 that will keep the same HS even if you use different packs with different "C" ratings. As long as the pack has the voltage, the heli will fly the same with strong and weak packs. Another + ..........Ron

I was testing a set of packs for a good friend of yours.

Haha, I greeted YOU yesterday Ron(like I always do), not the other way around. If you'd like to have a real conversation, give me a reasonable day and time, I will not refuse you.

I'd say that its safe to say that regardless of what some on this forum may want you to believe, the rest of us CAN in fact be satisfied with a product of lesser expense.
Tomorrow is fine Al let's say around 1?

I'm pretty sure that means I'm on your ignore list. Appropriate, as ignoring me is the best you can do in real life too...
