Please be kind, Im writing this because I just dont know. I will be receiving a Ionx2 tomorrow from Santa!! Im going to get it ready to be flow. Ive seen people run separate rx batt packs. why...either way. Im torn between a 10s and a 12s set up. But I was wondering if I could run my bec off my main battery pack like I do on my trex 500.

On bigger setup, electronics use more current. If you external bec provide enough current for your electronic, you could run it from a bec.

For high current load or to avoid using a switching bec, people use an external pack.

I would run a separate battery pack for electronics. The ION will have no trouble with the little bit of extra weight. A 3200mah, 2S lipo pack with some type of regulator will do the trick nicely.

Bec Or Not!!!!!!!!!

The answer to your question is YES you can..... But on the higher voltage set up's it seems that most are having very good luck with the BEC being connected to one side of your HV set up.... in other words, just make your connection so that it draws its power from one of your main batteries.... this keeps the BEC from having to knock down 37/44 volts for your 5-6 volt rx needs and keeps everything working nicely...
Hope this helps you with your question....
