Sorry to hear you had a problem. I have made a few tansactions here and I can say that so far, everyone I have dealt with has been 100% honest. Don't let one guy ruin it here for you. Most people here are honest people. Just my 2 cents worth.

My thought on buying used, if its not in front of me to inspect, I won't waste my time or money.

As devil's advocate, and without seeing the ad or heli in question, I feel that I have to say that one person's 'perfect' may not be the same as another. While 'perfect' means absolutely flawless, the seller may have assumed that perfect meant 'flyable'. There are varying extremes to this, of course, but it's true.

Even a loose interpretation of "perfect" would not quantify what happened to this guy.

Sorry man, that sucks and I would never do that to someone buying from me. What a dirt bag.

I hate these things..........often very hard to get all the facts 100% nailed down.

Not responding to a concern is not a good thing. Whats the time line here? Time since last you PMed him? Has an adequate amount of time passed? Has he posted since the PM was sent? He may be out of town or any number of things.

Im just like most, inclined to believe what is told me, but wont jump on the "Hang em High" band wagon until more is proven. The pics look pretty dang good to me. Lets see some Photo evidence of the poor condition parts. Stripped muffler hole? Its not alone as 50% world wide are in that group. Bad motor internals can be present w/o knowledge of the owner.

All Im saying is, allegations like this need to be proved with fact, at least for me to join the mob. The ad does say PERFECT condition so no doubt the buyer should expect just that but some allowance must be given to account for perceptual differences. It is a USED Heli.

The Seller needs to respond in a time appropriate manor. Hard to beat photo evidance to support claims......

RIP ROMAN

I just looked at the ad. If the seller said it's in perfect condition, but has had 7 gallons (approx. 42 flights assuming 6 flights per gallon) through it, I'd be a little skeptical. There are a few things I saw, such as some marks on the pipe and main grips, some wear on the main gear, etc., so I think expectations may just have been a bit high for this sale.

Scratches I have no problems with due to pictures being taken and you can see them, but...
broken ring land in the YS engine, which of course ruined the ring, and a stripped out header with the Hatori pipe.
I would have assumed that this would have caused the engine to run poorly or not at all. So the description of perfect condition can't be extended to this. I really have to ask. Did you run the engine prior to tearing it down? When I used to run nitro planks sometimes removing a gasket from the motor and muffler I'd damage it due to nitro gunk sticking to it when I peeled it off. I've never delt with a ringed engine so really can't speculate if it is possible to tear the ring on removal or if the aluminum could have been stripped in the header when aggressively removing the bolt. Just playing devils advocate as I haven't heard the other side of the story yet.

High Voltage just works better

One man's 'perfect' is definitely not always another persons 'perfect'! If you're in doubt ask for plenty of CLEAR pictures. Too many times I see people trying to sell stuff with blurry pics. If I can't see the item clearly i'll pass. There is no reason for not having clear pics of what you are selling. Even if it's clear you won't always see a bad build problem. Sometimes you may have bad bearings or things just don't move freely.

Feedback is also important! I know people need to start but unless you have some credibility I'm not buying.

I would love to help people use the MACRO function on their camera (if it exists). It is specifically designed for taking photos of very close objects for extreme detail...

Weather here in the Chicago area has been too lousy for me to have operated the helicopter since it was received. Engine was not run, bolt in stripped out header wasn't even in place.

Engine shows considerable pit marks on the head and piston it's obviously had some sand go through it out in the Moab desert. Plug was "dusty" white and blown off center of the plug hole, so the engine was stuffed in flight, and the seller almost certainly knew it. He's a fuel tester for Magnum for goodness sakes.

One more thing, the engine was being run without a head shim, another good way to detonate an engine, particularly if run lean, or with high nitro fuel, which might well have been the case.

This helicopter was obviously in need of a tear down, and inspection. Gives me something to do in the horrid winter weather, which I had planned on doing in any case.

I'm not going to post pictures, this thread was created to try and get the seller's attention so that he might decide to communicate with me, so we could try and reach an agreement in a private, civilized manner. If he fails to communicate, all the proof in the world still won't resolve the matter.

The other purpose for negative feedback, obviously, is to inform the readership when there is a less than forthright member doing business here. Helicopter was received 12/17, seller was informed I was not happy with the condition, he read the PM same day, and has not responded since. Nor has he even bothered to read my follow up PM sent on the evening of 12/20 after I had the heli torn down nut, and bolt.

Those of you playing "devils advocate" can reach their own conclusions about the intent of the seller. Consider that he has totally ignored me since I received the machine after voicing my displeasure with the description in the add. To me, that speaks volumes about intent, and character of Mr. Hayes. I'm done here, I've done my best to warn my fellow RR members.

Fortunately, I have the time, and the resources to restore this helicopter to pristine condition, so that's what I will do. I've already put a great deal of time, effort, and money into the machine. It will be in "perfect condition" when I maiden her this Spring.

I do know I will have a very difficult time trusting adds in the future. If 3 pages of positive feedback, a sponsorship with several of the online vendors, and a team member status doesn't compel a man to be honest, I don't know how one can tell with anything close to certainty.

Thanks for reading, and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Jay
