I'm cramming all the 2010 failures into a big box for the trash man.
I will look back on this year as fun, but expensive for the things that didn't work out.

I lost a 50 size scale Airwolf due to frequency resonance after four months of flying. $$$

Bought myself a plank for father's day and crashed it about ten times. It didn't fly well from the start....$$$

2011 will no doubt be as expensive or more, but hopefully will require a smaller box.

I lost:

A Trex 500 ESP-- Lawn dart from 100 feet and a total loss

A Trex 450 Sport-- Slammed into the payment with a full head of steam

A Raptor 50-- Unfortunate meeting with a tree. Could have been in the branches but nooooo, it had to slap the trunk for the most possible damage

This was fun! (hanging head in shame) Happy New Year

I guess I got lucky this year.

I had a spindle bolt break and the blade grips departed my 450. Interesting to say the least.

Dumb thumbed the 450 while using it to practice inverted hovering close to the ground.

Was flying an F-22 Raptor in formation with a buddy who had the same and we managed to get them into each other and lost both of them.

Other than that, it was a good year. Lots of fun.

Easy year for me but I gravited towards planks about 1/2 way in.
HC500, finally got my tail issue sorted out only to have the tail control rod pop off in a hover about 60/80 ft high and the heli dropped like a rock. I had so much bad Karma with this heli I didnt even try to repair it.
Trex 500FBL, I failed to properly set up the 3G controller and had a violent tipover on liftoff.
58" Edge 540 had a pretty bad year, pilot error resulted in a high speed pancake. Made the needed repairs only to suffer a loss of control several weeks later that resulted in a fatal collision with a nearby tree.

If I were to report on 2009 it would be 2-1/2 pages long!

Pile of fun, punn
Sometime in the middle of the year I also started saving my crashed parts, I have a 5 gallon bucket, just about full. I figure I will dump it out in the driveway someday and admire my “Could have had a new car” for the same price of this, pile of fun! 

Couple of crashes crumpled a couple of sets of 6S 3000mah batts

Replaced 6 sets of TT gears on my 600 till I bought a belt drive

Holy Crap Batman! And I thought I had a bad year! I had one re kit crash and a bunch of smaller ones. All in all about 10 sets of main blades (600's) a few tail blades, a box of tail booms and supports, oodles of landing gear, fried a couple 6cell batteries and I forgot how many canopies! Not to mention servo gears and servo's!
Hopefully this next year will bring better times! It will be my 3rd flying season.

Did it happen during flying, or are you working through your equipment with a chainsaw? I counted about $8k of damages in there without the planks. That's impressive to say the least. 30x 700mm main blades would surely land you a dealer account with Radix, maybe you could cut costs this way.

Yeooowww

It's been right at 4 years since I dorked a set of main blades. I think I did chip a set of tail blades on my 500 this past year.

Good one

Samur, all but the charger and totalG were flying. TotalG was me unplugging the unit to early, during a pc upgrade.

Hate to think what it cost the really top flight of guys to learn to fly

I guess I got off easy this year compared to some of the others who replied....

Still, it stings when you lose a $300 scale fuselage plus about $200 in damage to the mechanics.....

I had another crash midsummer when I thought I had charged a lipo but didn't. About two minutes into the flight and maybe 80 yards out I could hear the headspeed dying. Tried to reel it back in and I got alomst all the way back, but lost too much headspeed. Flopped over on it's side and got all banged up...

2011 will now be a clean slate....
