I love this guy.....
This was my final week before heading north and it was an eventful one!

It began with a trip out to Belle Glade where my two daughters, Aubrey and Austen, accompanied me for a close up look at one of our great South Florida farms, owned by Mr Rick Roth of Roth Farms. The soil of Belle Glade is black and rich and is home of multiple important crops for our nation. We started with the sugar mill and watched trucks come in from the field and followed the entire process. We then went into the sugar cane fields where we got the chance to watch a cane burn and my girls got the opportunity to bite into sugar cane and taste the juice, something I did back in Camilla, Georgia as a young fella.

We also toured lettuce and cabbage fields and picked some nice produce for my wife, Angela. That evening the girls had one of their favorite meals, corned beef and cabbage, with the fresh cabbage they had picked themselves.

Before departing Belle Glade we had a Christmas lunch with the Farm Bureau. Being on the Small Business Committee means being responsive to these independent farmers who are part of the entrepreneurial spirit which feeds South Florida and America.

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of being hosted by Dr. Andy and Ellen Astrove at their home in Boca Grove. It was a fantastic issues session with several prominent medical specialists and professionals. We covered their concerns with Obamacare, the Sustained Growth Rate (SGR), and the reduction in medical services for MEDICARE recipients. It is apparent to anyone with functioning intelligence and integrity that President Obama's signature healthcare law is an appalling failure which must be repealed. This is truly a priority target for the House Majority in the 112th Congress.

On Thursday, I had lunch with Mrs Judy Robertson, the mother of Hayes Robertson, my first campaign manager back in 2007. Hayes was a descendant of President Rutherford B. Hayes and had a long history of political involvement. Sadly, Hayes died while I was in Afghanistan from a massive heart failure.

Sitting with Judy and remembering Hayes took me back to January 2007 when I met with local political activist and friend, Donna Brosemer at a cafe in Delray Beach. There she broached the topic of running for Congress in 2008 against Ron Klein. It was Donna who brought Hayes into the equation. I recalled after Hayes' passing the empty feeling that this fledgling quest would not see the light of day. After redeploying from Afghanistan, Mike McCrady stepped in to run our 2008 congressional campaign, along with his fiancée, Leah Chambliss, acting as finance director. We lost in 2008 with 45.3% and I remember the smugness of Ron Klein when I called him election night, a courtesy call he did not return in 2010.

In December 2008, the election was over and many were despondent. Then came another voice. That voice belonged to Joyce Kaufman, who asked one question, "Are you going to run again? What Donna, Hayes, Mike, and Leah had planted, Joyce Kaufman watered and took to the next level and here we are. Joyce allowed this political novice into her studio May 29, 2007, but was skeptical if I had the ability to become a political entity. She staked her professional reputation on me, something not lost on a chucklehead like myself.

Simply stated, I am forever grateful to Donna, Hayes, Mike, Leah, and Joyce as they enabled this three year journey to come to fulfillment.

That is why this past Sunday, as I stood there before some 200 veteran bikers at the American Legion Post 268 in Riviera Beach, I was humbled. It was humbling to have these men and women who have stood on multiple battlefields come to send me off to Washington, DC. They represent all the many people whom I have come to know over the past three years, all great Americans. Special thanks to Cookie, Whistler, and Loop for putting together a fantastic Sunday afternoon....and you all have to try Mrs Whistler's chili! Boy, howdy that is some good stuff!

This coming Wednesday, a 10ft U-Haul truck will depart Plantation, take Sunrise Blvd east to I-95 and head North. It was December 2003, seven years ago, that a Chevy Suburban towing a U-Haul arrived to the same location from Ft Hood, TX. We arrived in the wee hours of the night not known to anyone. What an incredible journey this has been and all of you shall walk it with me henceforth.

So it was a very nice Christmas for us, as we spent it with our special friends, The Perry Family (Fred, Maureen, Margo, Ian, Khalia, and in absentee serving in Afghanistan, Austin). We even had our longest running friends from our days in Kansas, Simeon and Alma Terry, come in from Texas. (Too bad he had to watch the Dallas Cowboys get beat!)

Christmas Eve was the 21st renewal of my wedding contract to Angela, I barely made the midnight bargaining deadline but she resigned my contract for another year. In other words, it was our 21st wedding anniversary.

In closing, you all have given me a very serious mission to accomplish. I have never been very comfortable smiling so just understand that is who I am. The smiles will be less because a battle awaits. It is not about being unapproachable, it is about being laser focused on that which you have sent me to do.

I won't let you down.

Happy New Year!

Steadfast and Loyal,

Allen

Allen West used the words: "Steadfast and Loyal."

Obama doesn't know the meaning of those words.

I watched this guy very closely during his campaign and was on his mailing list. This is really a guy to be on the lookout for once he gets settled in. He will be somebody to be reckoned with on the national scene. If not in 2012, then in 2016 I'm quite sure.

He appears to be a straight up guy. I'm sure he's not perfect but the liberal media will try to turn a spec of dust into a west Texas dust storm.

He's worth watching for sure.

Yeah, I look forward to seeing more of him as well.

As it is, we have no prominent national leaders that have the balls to speak plain language and answer simple questions like all of them should be doing anyway. Both sides.

They all seem to have only their own best interests in mind while setting aside the American. Once again, both sides. But, especially the left.

Mr. West is exactly what I am looking for in a leader! He is logical, intelligent and conservative. He also obviously loves his country and wants it to do well.
The exact opposite of Obama!

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!
