All that stuff is gimmicks. Just take the computer outside dust it out real good. Get your self a thumbdrive or external HD and put anything you need saved on it. Blow away the OS and load a fresh copy!! Nothing beats it!!

Run a full virus scan.

Then check your drive for crap files and your registry for errors. There are several freeware programs that you can get for free that would do this for you pretty painlessly...one of my favorites is CCleaner. Here is a link.

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

It is shareware, it has no spy or ad ware. Once you run CCleaner you will also need to defrag your hard drive.

The same programmer, piriform, offers a freeware defrag program that works great. If you still have problems do as recommended above. Back up your data, wipe the drive, and reinstall your OS and programs.

Doing the virus check, cleaning your hard drive, cleaning your registry errors, and defragging your drive will give you the same if not better results than using such websites.

Just run CCleaner at least once a month along side with your virus scanning and your computer should run like a champ!

All I use is the stuff built into my browser. It works great, that and disk clean up. That other stuff is just gimmicks. They just do what the computer already has tools for.

It's like going to get a hair cut, and the barber that is suposed to cut your hair, hires another barber to do the job he's supposed to be doing.

Im in the process of this right now, not by choice though. Our system crashed. Had to hook up the hard drive to another tower as a secondary hard drive. Was able to get all the info I wanted off of it. Now I am formatting it and hopefully soon can reinstal the op system, if I can find the discs.

Our CPU would not boot up, it seems what ever the start up program was supposed to do would not work. With our HD hooked up as a secondary it is able to be accessed, luckily.

Or upgrade that mac to a High End HP.
My little hp laptop is not high end thou.
Dual core 2.4, 4GB, 320gbhd, but will run anything I need.

Nothing Beats a Clean Formatt. I reformatt mine about every two months. It will make a computer last longer. And keep the dust out, "clean the fans" cpu heatsink, (if desktop) Not easely done in a laptop.

wiser words were never spoken. I build pc's and maintenence a server and the client computers as a side job, and this is the ONLY way to get a computer running well again.

If you're going to reload often, use Ghost or Acronis to restore from a clean image that includes your applications and then restore your data.

Macks will get there dose of virus's and such one day. It just that more people use PC, and there for not much need for nerds to create virus just for mac, when they are such a small percntage of users out there.

It only takes approx 45 minutes total. Heck that's a meal time break.

PC's, and Mac's are all out dated in 6 months after purchase. So for what someone would shell out for a mac, you can get a pc that has just as much power, and you can buy several over 18 months to keep pace with the next level of performance.

1 Mac outdated in 6 months
Or
3 Pc's bought over a period of 18 or more months.

Same price..... Of course if your rich and just love to waste money go ahead. That is how rich people love to be seen... money & power trips.

What rock did you crawl out from under....I have seen macs 2-3 years old out perform new pc's. Oh and how did that Vista work out for you?? PC has to change there operating systems every 6 months just to stay ahead and what is it now windows 7? I can update my operating system for $29.00. A Mac doesnt cost that much more that a quality pc because when I was shopping for my Mac I was in the market for a all in one unit and it wasnt that much of a difference in cost.

No not a fanboy just someone who saw the LIGHT

My wife still has a pc laptop and it's like having an old car!! you are always having to work on it to make it run.

* Virus scan
* defrag
* Windows update every other day for some BS reason for protection
* Spend $80.00 + to get new operating systems.
* then next month repeat all over except operating system and BTY dont forget to delete all those cookies so it will run smooth.

Once you go Mac you want go BACK LOL

Free . . . eh ?

It says free SCAN but nothing said about actually fixing anything unless you give them money.

Usual misleading marketing tactics.
Tell you how bad your system is then offer to fix it . . . for a price . . .

Very cagey.
