Yesterday was the first flight for my G30. During spool up (way before mid stick) the front transmission gear shattered. At first I thought the gear mesh must have been too tight however when I looked at the tail shaft I found the problem. The lock pin for the Aluminum tail gear came through the tail drive belt and hit the spacer.

How this could happen is a mistory too me.

Anyone else having this type of problem?

I had this happen-without going through the belt though-I think mine was due to forgetting to lock it with the set screw-did you remember to put the small Allen in the shaft to lick the pin in place?

Hi ttaylor63,

The problem was the set screw that goes inside the tail shaft to lock in the lock pin was left out. I did not see the set screw in the manual and just assumed the pin stayed in place by the belt not letting it escape. I am still amazed that it would penetrate the belt.

One question for the G30 builders;

There are two 22mm by 20mm thin brass rings in the kit but I have not found where they should fit and I could not find them listed in the manual.

Anyone know where these go?

I hate having left over parts
