Is the new replacement spindle for the Vibe 50 available already or you have to buy the whole FBL head kit?

I would reconsider using the JR FBL head for the Vibe 50. I spent all weekend trying to get mine set up and I will NOT produce enough CYCLIC pitch without binding. I could barely get to +/- 10 degs with swash mixes from 105% to 120% on ELEV and AIL. Collective was fine. A couple others on HF said they had similar exeriences.

I put my T550E FBL head on the vibe to compare and had no issues with Cyclic pitch at all. I am surprised and dismayed at how lacking this head was. JR is really behind the FBL curve.

If you want to buy a (barely) used and never flown JR head conversion at a discount, send me a PM. Replacement parts are still not available. An email from Horizon said "maybe by end of Jan 2011".

I just put the JR flybarless head on my machine and used the stock plastic grips and the g-force aluminum mixing arms instead of the plastic stock ones. With the Microbeast unit, everything works perfectly. No binding issues, solid and the thing flies incredibly well and Im 3ding the heck out of it. Price tag is a little steep for the head, but looks beautiful and is heavy duty. The main shaft goes into the head about 1.33 inches, and holds very firmly. Im happy with the choice!

rhinoceros55,

Would you mind sharing how much CYCLIC pitch (AIL and ELEV) you were able to achieve with the JR head (with collective at 0 degs)?

Thanks - Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
I just checked out the cyclic range and its 10 degrees in all directions. I could get more if I moved the ball link rod that is stationary further out on the mixing arm increasing the leverage length. But it flies great and no binding so Im happy with it. I think the g-force mixing arms add a dimension of adjustability that is missing with the stock arm, and may be the ticket to making the most of the JR FBL head.

Rhino:

Can you tell us how long those GF arms are vs. the stock JR arms? They don't look too different to me in the photos. Also, in order to get more cyclic, wouldn't you have to move the links IN on the arm? It looks like your already all the way in on one side. It's a peculiar setup.

I would like to use the JR part, but I think an Align FBL head might actually work better. I ordered a KDE FBL head and have the Align FBL parts. I know someone in another forum has used the Align FBL head successfully. If the G-Force arms are really different, then that would be the path of least resistance.

Cheers!

Reggix:

Can you elaborate? Are you using the JR head and getting decent Cyclic/Pitch range without binding? If so, could you share your setup?

So far, I'm seeing folks getting maybe 9 or 10 degrees with binding at extremes. With the RJX head and Align head they are getting 13 degrees (plus and minus), which is where I am with my Flybar at the moment.

Thanks,
Lee

Not sure what the max cyclic and collective pitch is on mine. Enough to fly well though. I'm using the cyclic ring in my V-Bar 5.1 too, so binding doesn't occur in corners. I'll check max pitch w/o ring later and let you know.

Using aluminum adjustable mixing arms w JR FBL Head Video
Quick video showing that adjustable mixer on the JR head makes a difference that may help those w binding issues.

Hi Rhino:

Thank you VERY much for the vid! I ordered a set of those arms, and hope that's the ticket to getting the JR head to perform.

The Bevel box is pretty cool too!

Cheers!
