Flybar on both ends snapped off inflight
I have a Trex 600 Nitro LE that's never been crashed since new purchase last year, but today on my 3rd flight doing big rainbows I hear a loud noise and immediately put her on throttle hold doing the best I can to auto her on skids and successfully landed without causing a terrible crash!

The only things that broke was 1 main blade dinged up, 1 boom support, 1 main grip plastic ball link, 1 flybar paddle, and the flybar that broke off on both ends. Also yesterday my Team Checkpoint power supply just stop working when I was storage charging one of my Logo 600 batteries

I think it gets to cold up here sometimes, yet we fly anyway!

I was flying in -3 a few weeks back and could tell it didn't like it.
Everything gets too cold at the end of a flight.

Sucks to see, but glad the damage wasn't worse than it was.

Yeah I know what you mean Bud! I love flying and this is the only season I can really take advantage of flying cause summer I'm just to busy and always out fishing on my boat.

But yeah I think the flybar just got so brittle and snapped off from all that force it's absorbing. At least those Edge blades came with the heli free when I bought it last year from ReadyHeli, but bummed out cause I liked them.

I have had a number of flybar failures this past year.
There is a thread on here about this, do a search.
I stwitched to JR flybar, same dia. and length.
I had not had a JR fail yet, they seem to bend easier, not hardened to the hardness of the Align flybar.

*Thanks Kingjoe, I'll have to give it a try if I stick with the flybar on the helicopter?

*The Old Guy: Yeah I figured it didn't go crazy unstable because both ends broke making it flybarless. Just glad to land her right side up with very minimum damages and not crushing the canopy since I like it so much

Must be the cold in combination maybe with some weak Align metal. You could try another brand flybar that might be made out of better metal. Also if you are really worried you could upgrade it to a 4mm flybar or better yet, FBL!

I have had them snap in the middle of summer.
But I am running a YS 91 SR in my 600, so things do happen.

I"ve broken three just normal flying, in the summer, only one side. The heli still flies fine just shakes a little. Part of flying align I guess.

Oh wow snapping in summer too, I guess Align is using real cheap metal for a crucial part!

I'm going to be converting her to FBL

I don't know about cheep but it does seem to be too hard of and alloy. So you had a boom strike and the flybar snapped when the rotor stopped. Is that correct? Cool breaks like this always peak my interest and that's a cool one. Sorry it happened though.Tighten it tell it loosens then back it off a quarter

Try the JR I posted above.
I had some carelessly stored and the got bent (in package). I was surprised how easy they bent back.
I would rather have them to flexable, than breaking and taking out blades, canopies, as well as paddles.

No boom strikes here, just a boom support strike do to a forced auto and blade folding when it got on the ground. The surface wasn't exactly very smooth due to a bunch of snowmobile tracks so landing wasn't exactly smooth along with bad wobbles autoing.

I have a new 3DX flybarless head laying around that I will be installing finally after 1 year it collecting dust along with a 3G system after I do the mod.

I have had 2 break in three years. There is a lot of force being applied to the fly bar doing 3d maneuvers so I tend to change my fly bar every time I open a case of fuel.Raymond McFaul

All you guys who are breaking align flybars need to check the color of the metal when they break. When broken if the metal looks grayish in color, that means when the company that made the flybars over heat treated the metal. A process to strengthen steel. Instead of making it strong it turns to glass. If thats the case you should contact whom ever you bought them from. I have had experience with this before on airplane axles.

It may happen if you have bent it back to straighten it out before few times. That will cause metal fatique at the point of failure.

I also snapped 4 this summer on one side and its common with the align 600 flybar. The heli still handles ok and IMO can be easily brought in under most circumstances.
Lost a paddle every time so that's what bugged me.I considered changing them out once in a while but now Im use to the pop and know it when they give so I figured Id just use up all the align flybars I have and then go to the JR.
