Kalt baron 60 w 10SII head,and metal tailbox. FOR SALE $400
this is in top condition with low time on it,with no part worn. i picked this up from a Kalt Pro pilot,so you know that it was well built and taken care of. he said this was his at the end of his piloting career, and has very little use on it.
Put this in your kalt collection,it is one of their best fliers...the 10SII is a top notch all metal head with lots of bearings. the metal tailbox is one of their best too.the heli uses 660mm and 680mm main blades.it has a nice OS MAX SF 60 heli engine, that was lubed for storage.the main rotor drive gear is in like new condition, like everything else on this heli. that main gear fetches $50 by itself...the head around $200.
i would like to get $400 money order or paypal with fees.
no electrics included.thanks.

As a matter of interest and detail, that model is an Alpha. It was also sold over here with a different head as the Excalabur. The Alpha II uses 2.5 mm frames and eliminated the perpendicular frame brace.

The pictured head is a Black series head with independent teetering.

some right some wrong
the Alpha II is a gasser and my first heli.it came out around 1993 when i bought it from helicopter world in california....i still have it.my heli listed here is called a baron. the baron alpha came next...i have that one new in box...it has a round fuel tank, held in place with two large rubber O-rings.the head on this ad is a 10SII(BLACK10FS,SII);;;;i can take picture of a new one in its original box if proof is needed....bet my paycheck on it.the excallibur used short wide main blades and matching shorter tailboom....had one of those too.all of the above came out in the 1990s and except for a slightly different frame on the alpha II to handle the larger square gasoline tank and zenoah gasoline engine(K22) engine, they all had the same components on the main shaft, with a variety of heads including the composite k-5......prior to this time period, they had all sorts of different parts on their helis that got more and more refined as they evovled to where they were in the 1990s...i may not be an expert, but i have had my share of new and used Kalt 60 size helis.and they are where i began in this hobby.

i still have it.my heli listed here is called a baron. the baron alpha came next...
Nowhere in your post did you mention the GLOW Alpha II which has the round tank. The Alpha (I) / Excalibur has the square tank.

The production sequence of the Kalk kits was Baron 60 in several trim levels, Baron Alpha 60/Excalibur, and finally the Baron Alpha II . The pics and dates of the kit reviews irrefutably prove this.

Please do take a picture of your kit's box and post it here. If the model has the 2.5mm frames, the box will say Alpha II. The model you have for sale is an Alpha (1).

Tell me again for what misinformation I'm paying?

AND...AND....AND,,,,,I BET MY PAYCHECK ON THE 10SII,,,even your pictures call it that...sooo.how much do you owe me??

OK, let's review those two statements, shall we?
As a matter of interest and detail, that model is an Alpha. It was also sold over here with a different head as the Excalibur.
The Alpha II uses 2.5 mm frames and eliminated the perpendicular frame brace.
The pictured head is a Black series head with independent teetering.
1) Explain the difference between the model you have for sale and the review of the Alpha with the ALPHA sticker clearly on the canopy and Baron sticker above it along with the overall review title of the model with the name, once again, ALPHA. I never said that the model wasn't a Baron. I meant the whole name for the bird included the name ALPHA (or Excalibur in the US with a different head). It unequivocally did/does.

2) The second quote is a fact.

3) As noted in the photoed text of the US Excalibur review written by Dr. Grossman, the model was shipped in the US with the K5 head (same as the later Alpha II gas model used). What is incorrect about these statements? I surely did not photoshop the pics of the verbage in the review.

4) I never said the head was anything else than you did. It was my recollection that they used to call this head and one similar to it a Blackhead. In any case, the point of interest was that is an independent teeter design. Is that not an accurate statement?

I'll await the pics of your kit box and the magazine reviews with great interest.

ok...we both are correct.
got to get to bed
basically you contradicted that the head was a10SII,and i bet my check that it was a 10SII
i also said that you were partially right, and you were...gotta go.i will dig up my magazine review of the time and post it so all the info is here.
at the end of the day//////i am selling a nice Kalt baron 60 size heli with a 10SII all metal head.

Good night......

When you post the pics of your kit box and the name of the kit on it, you can also show me where I said the head wasn't a 10 series head. All I said was that it was a Black series head, and that did/does not mean that it's not also the exact 10 series head you listed. it was just my recollection that they used the "Black" nickname. Being a independent teeter head doesn't mean that it's not a 10 series head, either. That's an accurate design description. Thus I don't see where any description of your head was contradicted by anything I said. Only commented upon....

It is a nice model.

ok...with all this debating..i confused myself as far as the name of the gasoline model.......
mine as for sale IS a BARON 60(not anything with alpha in its' name)....next came the baron alpha II...round nitro fuel tank with large O rings,as well as excallibur with odd tank like the one in this ad,...and then there is the GS ALPHA II...my gasser.

Hello Guys: I noticed this post from the beginning but resisted entering and now that Dr. Ben has entered, I have to put my $0.02 in as well.

Fisrt off, I have to say to Larry that his heli. is "NOT" a "Baron 60". It is either a "Baron Alpha" (UK version) or an "Excalibur" (US version). The "Baron 60" was an entirely different ship made in several versions that preceded the "Baron Alpha/Excalibur". I have several "Baron 60 EX's" so I am very familiar with it. I presume that Larry refers to it as "Baron 60" because the canopy says "Baron" on it, but this is not entirely correct. The "Excalibur" was sold in the US with the K5 plastic head: however, I'm not sure which head it had in the UK, it may have been the "10S II". Though it does look like it has "Baron 60" fins on it and they did come in yellow and only yellow. So far, I am supporting Dr. Ben.

The next in line heli. Kalt produced was the "Baron Alpha II" and the "Baron Alpha II GS" or more commonly known as the "Gas Alpha". Larry, this is what you claim to have and your NIB kit must be a "Baron Alpha II". The "Gas Alpha" did have a rectangular gas tank, but it was forward mounted. It also had the K5 plastic head like the "Excalibur". The Alpha II does have the round tank, 2.5mm frames, and the "10S II" head which is a part of the "Blackhead" series. Dr. Ben is right about this. I know this ship very well, as I have several and displayed one at IRCHA 2010 for everyone to see. The other one is NIB.

Don't know what else I can add to this post, but I'll let you guys sort out "Who owes Who"??

Thanks for the reply and confirmation. I have no problem backing down when I'm wrong, but the history on these Kalt models is irrefutable by those who followed the Kalt product line years ago, so I was not about to back down. Last night I even PM'd Terry Moore, who, like me, has been around long enough to remember the model in its time and not just as a piece of history now. He also confirmed it to be either an Alpha (1) or Excalibur but without the K5 head. John Wallingtion used to fly these models per Terry.

Best regards,

Ben
