Fiberglass Canopy questions
I am workin on a new heli with a fiberglass canopy and I am really only used to plastic canopies. Here are a couple questions if anybody knows.

1. I have a hard time getting it on and am afraid of flexing it too much and cracking it. Is there a trick to getting these on and off?
2. the rubber geomets are very tight where they push onto the frame mounts, can I put some oil on these grommets to make them slip on and off easier?
3. My canopy was ore-finished, is alcohol Safe to use as a cleaner?

Which canopy?

Generally speaking....

1. it will bend more than you think; you may want to trim the clip a bit to allow it to slide onto the frame easier (esp Trex 600N).

2. you can, but you want the grommet to "squeeze" the post. It's the friction that keeps the canopy on, esp if you are going fast backwards maneuvers.

3. pre-finished canopies from Canomod, Fusuno, and most manufacturers' canopies are clear coated and alcohol will not effect them. Note - alcohol DOES effect knock-off canopies from HK.

Your TT. canopy is fuel safe, you won't have a problem with the alcohol, unless you start drinking it!

You could also remove the grommet and ream the hole out just a tad. This will decrease the resistance of the pin insertion. Grease is a must as well.
