What gets me about this whole deal is that this is Obama's big accomplishment? Not ending the wars as he promised endlessly during his campaign?Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!

it's a political football is all it is. Right now he can tick off several things that he promised to do and puff himself up for 2012. But in the end, I believe we'll see most of what he did pass this year get repealed sometime within the next year. Let's all pray that's true.

The what he failed to do far outweighs what he promised after all his campaign BS. If he plans on campaigning on this one issue he's as nuts as the ones that voted him in in the first place. Novembers elections proved that. My advice to the "alternative lifestyle" bunch is keep your preferences private or suffer the consequences. I don't advocate violence but it's apparently clear that we in the straight community really are sick of hearing about your "issues". Unless of course your one of the elected morons in Washington.

Well the progressives have done a nice job of removing Christmas from the public square and everything else that means anything to main stream America so why would this surprise anyone.

I don’t care anymore, I just Vote and let the chips fall where they may. I saw a study from the military that stated that 1 of 4 trying to sign up for the services were too fat or stupid to pass the entrance exams.

So if someone that is homosexual wants to serve in our military so be it however; it would be wise for them to keep it to them self’s and do what’s expected of them.

Merry Christmas everyone.

I'll tell you what I expect now that this has happened. Quota's. The military will now have to turn away qualified individuals in favor of meeting government mandated numbers of gay's.

The issue that concerns me is:

Will our military be able to do their job of defending the US?

Presently, the modern day military has trouble filling the numbers needed for a complete military.

To solve this, standards have been lowered for new recruits. As a result, we are operating with a sub standard US military (at least not as high a standard as we desire).

The DOD's official survey of the troops indicated that almost 25% will leave or consider leaving early because of the repeal of DADT.

Our military may find themselves having to lower their standards again because of this act. I don't think our congress gave serious consideration to the long term effects of this repeal. The things I heard mostly concerned the rights of gays and not how the military will benefit.

If the military wins, we win. If the military loses...

being AD AF for a good many years and now a Nat guard weekend warrior. I came in under DADT and it was a effective policy with ZERO issues. If I worked with a gay guy it was all professional and I cared not if he liked sausage for dinner behind his doors...But I think this is a terrible thing especially during a time of war. We dont need this BS!!

See the US military has been the holy grail to the gay right/lefty community for years and square in its cross hairs. If they didnt get this done in the lame duck it woulda NEVER passed.

Where else do we send our impressionable young men? What do most of the military vote toward time and again? the US military is the last great conservative stronghold left for our country.

Can i trust a flaming gay Commander? thats not the authority figure I got when I was a young airman. My sergeants/Commanders were MEN and I respect the stern ideals they put into me. I cant respect a flaming gay guy because on some level there is something wrong there...

Once we get a flaming gay Sec DEF then they can mold the military to any lefty whim they want. Alternative lifestyles PC BS will be pounded into impressionable kids and they wont know if they should be gay or straight.

Rules in the UCMJ will need to be changed for the trannys also.... See where this leads? If one alternative lifestyle group get laws changed then the rest need even more rights/reparations.

The open flamers are a whole new breed unlike the private off duty gays we have now..they will flood into the office/cake jobs leaving the heavy lifting suck hour flight line jobs to the real men.

So every time i have to go into finance/personnel it will be like stepping into a SF gay rights parade..

Its BS!

Its total BS!

Totally agree with you Ghia.

I hope this crap gets repealed. It was an extremely irresponsible and untimely thing to do.

But, unfortunately, I won't be holding my breath.

Apparently, you did not see or listen to his speech at the time of signing that bill.

With all the loudness and zeal he delivered that speech, he came across as though he was directly involved in the planning. When that is the case, then he was.

Of course, then he mentioned he was re thinking his policies about gay marriage.

This clown has a plan, and its not very cool. Once again, against the will of the people, as is his usual.

Get out and vote in 2012. Vote that scum bag out.

Tell all of the gay clergy men running around that being gay is not natural and that god forbids it...

Guess all of you religious folks here have thrown out the notion of 'acceptance'...

How sad.

I guess the only consolation in this whole ordeal is that China/Russia are our largest potential enemies and the left coast, namely San Francisco will most likely be the first to receive the beach landings of their troops.

So funny. Its really no wonder. I have tried numerous times applying to the airforce and national guard and have yet to even get a response from the recuiter. I call the phones, no ones answers or returns calls. I go to the physical location, either there is nothing there or no one is there. I've given up, seems they don't need anyone.

Ahhh, that only means they don't need YOU right now. With the lower standards, they are able to fill the numbers quite well. Without those lower standards plus a bad economy, they can't fill the numbers. When the standards were first lowered, numbers were filled. But even with the lowered standards , the military couldn't fill the numbers until the bad economy hit.

There may be a time lag between this new law and the additional lowering of standards...three years...ten years...who knows.

There is a plan to circumvent the Americans for illegals in the DREAM ACT by Obama and the Democrats:
(CNN) -- Three years ago, the U.S. Armed Forces struggled with a serious recruiting crisis, a crisis that evaporated temporarily only when the economy slumped. As it recovers and our population continues to age, the Armed Forces will face yet another challenge in recruiting the high-quality people needed for the modern military.

For that reason, the Department of Defense identified the DREAM Act as a smart way to expand the pool of eligible candidates for enlistment.

The Development, Relief and Education of Alien Minors (DREAM) Act is a bipartisan bill that would provide a path to legal residence for undocumented young people who were brought to the United States as children. The conditions: They must graduate from high school, demonstrate good moral character, and -- to keep their legal status -- complete at least two years of higher education or at least two years service in the U.S. military.

The military is not having trouble filling its ranks in the aviation community. They are offing us in record numbers. Im qualified in every rate in my command minus a parachute rigger as well as more collateral duties than I can keep track of and my job is far from secure. We are losing quality people every day and doing the same job with half the people. Its not easy getting in at the moment unless you want to be a grunt.

Now that would be funny. I'm not personally against gay people. I'm not the final judgment. Its so hard to tell if its biological or choice. Some of the most successful people in the world are gay. But sometimes i think hmmm, hey whats going on here.
