Having fun untill the mechanical failure happens..
Close to 300 crash free flights and this happend .When "I" crash I don't get mad but things like this sucks

Watch at YouTube

This was why she went down and I found the tail servo wire not connected when I got home.Buddy told me to hot glue the plugs,so i'll run a good bead of glue on all of them once shes flying again ..

Its cool and not the first time I had a mechanical failure, just happend to get this one on video..
There was no way to save it.As soon as I hit TH it dropped like a brick, gave it full poss pitch and didn't slow down at all..

Nice flying, and good song choice for the video

I saw a good alternative for the hot glue if your leads plug in the end, place a strip of hook velcro across the top of all the plugs, a small strip of hook across the Rx, and then put a strip connecting it all.

I've crashed on pavement twice now, and I wish my heli had came out as good as yours lol, I rekitted my ely q with a botched auto on pavement

devin_hor,
Thanks .
I thought about putting the velcro on it but everything is really tight. Was going to hot glue everything but I just bought a new tube of E6000 which will work perfect and help keep the small vibes down on the RX.
Doesn't bother me flying over pavement because I stay close to the ground. Its winter here and the dirt is rock solid so the out come would pretty much be the same haha.

monkey nuttz,
I have a small, very light HD camcorder bolted to the brim of a base ball cap.Its not heavy at all and I really don't notice it once im flying.I can fly 5 back to back flights and it doesn't move.If you have a small camcorder with the screw in the bottom for a tri-pod,find a screw that fits it and make a hole in a ball cap.It works awesome .Looks funny but it works haha .

Hay,it works and takes awesome videos when your alone.I would NEVER put that thing on my head with someone around LOL.

devin_hor,
How far away are you from Tazwell,Tenn ?The wife, kid and I have a house down there that we just got not too long ago.We plan on moving by spring or mid summer and have enough flat, clean land to fly fifty 90 size helis .If I have enough $$ left over,I wanna turn some of the land into a AMA club.Maybe put a small building on it and run electric from my house with a paved strip for planes.Tazwell is a small town so I wanna see if theres enough people in the area first before really looking into it..

I need to find out if theres flyers in my area.I don't wanna dump money into this and be the only person in the area flying but I am still setting everything up for myself. If theres not enough people,i'll have to find out were the funflys are held down their. It might not happen this summer because we still have to move and take care of a bunch of things but im hoping to start on it.600LE,OS55,OS PowerBoost pipe,Align 610's,Spartan

Not to beat a dead horse here but I was trying some simulations of this failure and at least "on the sim" if the tail goes out and I'm relatively straight I can save it by going full pos pitch to get some height, (like 100' or more) THEN hitting throttle hold and by the time it's 10' off the ground or so it will have stopped piro'ing and I can safely land.

Yes, on the way up it piros like crazy!

Would this work in real life? Never tried it, thankfully.

Don't have to watch it all but fast forward to 6:50 in the first video and 4:29 in the 2nd video .

Yeehaanow,
Honestly I could of saved it with no damage at all if I hit throttle hold right away but the problem was I didn't .I was up for 36+ hrs that day.Right when the tail started acting funny I should of hit TH and autoed but I didn't .I waited until the tail started spining THEN hit TH,thats where I screwed up .Not sure why I waited because I always hit TH right away like I did in the videos above. When I hit TH with the Protos,it was too late.
