T6EX throttle problem
Hi guys I have a question/problem with my throttle. First off let me start by saying I just bought this radio used on the classifieds so I am not sure the history of this unit. Now then I bought a new R6106HFC receiver to pair up with my new radio and when I went to set everything up in my 450 I found that my throttle doesn't work properly. Everything else works as it should but the throttle started off at full blast. As soon as I flipped the throttle hold switch it immediately went full blast like it was in idle up. So of course I flipped the idle up switch the opposite direction and no difference. Puzzled I went over everything slowly in detail, all my TX programing, all my electrical connections, everything. Then I went into my throttle curves and really got thrown for a loop. I started adjusting my idle up curve and started off with pt 5, lowered it to 50, pt. 4 to 40, pt. 3 was lowering it and once it hit 45 the motor started slowly moving the head. I went to 44, a little faster, 43 = faster, 42 = etc, etc, etc. No matter where the stick was as that had no change in anything throttle related no matter what part of the setup I was at. I am totally baffled and am thinking I need to send it to Futaba and let them check it out, what do you guys think? I like the radio as I am pretty new to these heli's and it is much better than my fly-sky POS.

On electric models with Futaba tranmitters the throttle channel must be in reverse for use with almost all of the ESC's on the market. Try reversing the throttle channel, that should clear up your problem.Team Synergy/Rail, Team Scorpion, YS Engines, VelTye

Also there's a way to use the service menu to reverse the throttle function, if setting the Throttle channel to REV doesn't fix it post again and I'll tell you how to find it.Andy

Hold down the MODE and END keys and power up the transmitter, I dont remember if that one has a menu there or not, if it does scroll through to see if there's a THR and it will either say REV or NOR set it to NOR

Again, I dont know if that radio supports that menu or not but thats how you globally reverse the throttle stick function on the 7c and 9c radios.

I tried holding those down and the only options that allowed was stick 1 - 4. I put it on stick 2 like it was mode 2. Does anyone know if that is correct? And I am still having the same problem so I think I am gonna call Futaba and see what they say. Thanks for your input guys.

OK, works fine now. I guess I only thought I reversed the throttle channel cause I know I went into programming and tried to reverse it but I guess it didn't reverse. Oh well works great now and I love how smooth the controls are with this radio. wow

I don't, I love my futaba and all the futaba's I own or have owned. I hate Spektrum! How's that! Just kidding I have never used one or have any desire too. I would try out an Airtronics tho.

I normally work on JR/Spektrum and I've worked with the higher end Futaba's(there not to bad) but this T6EX thing a joke. Seriously this thing was making me crazy for about 2 hours.

Yea thats the problem with JR/Spektrum, they always need to be worked on!!!! LOL, sorry you left yourself wide open for that one. I agree the 6ex is not the greatest radio but for what it is it works, plain and simple. I am going to get the 8ch while they have this trade in thing going on, it looks like a really nice unit.

You will not be disappointed in the 8FG. A great radio that does just about everything. The 6EX is a fine radio, probably not the best one in the world for helis, but it was the first Futaba FASST radio out. I had one and used it for my foamies, and an MX-400 heli. Nothing wrong with it at all, but after the 8FG came out, sold the 6EX and now use the 8FG for my foamies, I wanted a timer which the 6EX does not have. Maybe someday when I get time, I will program a heli into the 8FG as I currently use my 14MZ for pretty much everything else.Team Synergy/Rail, Team Scorpion, YS Engines, VelTye

Wow, the 14MZ is swwweeeeeeet! I wish I could afford such luxury and class. I will one day but for now the 8FG is all the radio I need and then some. I would get lost with 14 channels, I would. I would spend 25 hours a day playing with switches and knobs and forget why I had it in the first place, to fly! I know they have their place but I can't justify it yet. I wonder if I should get the 10ch though as I can fill 8 channels pretty easy and could use the extra programming.

"Like you need help making you crazy"

You got that right.

As far as the JR/Spektrum comment by swoop I find I spend less time dealing with customers who own them over the one's with the Futaba equipment. Me, all I own is JR or Spektrum. It's all good though I learn something new everyday. Now if I could only figure out that crap the Hobby Kings passing off as radios I'd be golden.
Thanks again guys I always find what I need ( nad at times don't) here.

If I was buying a new radio today, it would be the 8FG. When I got my 14MZ, it was the replacement for the 9Z, but it sure was as step up. As you noted, the 8FG will do all you ever need to do and more. New software update coming out for it very soon.Team Synergy/Rail, Team Scorpion, YS Engines, VelTye

rcmiket, I was totally joking with you on that comment man, don't get upset. I thought I wrote that in the post when I wrote it but I guess I didn't. I am a big fan of the JR X9303 and would but it if I wasn't "in love" with the 8FG already. I really like the buy back trade in sale Futaba has going on right now. Can't wait to get my new radio!
