What would you do be doing?
What would some of you be doing if you did not get hooked in RC?

Just prior to getting back in to RC airplanes back in 2003, I was into playing Go (Go also known as Ba-Dook) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_(game).

I got so in to it that I was taking weekly lessons. I stopped cold when RC bug hit me again. I would imagine that I would still be playing Go if I wasn't doing RC.

In Korea, Go and Golf are two of the most addictive game/sports with 1/4 of population playing Go. Go is much more spectator sports than a Chess would, because the situation can be much more easily understood than in Chess.

I would also be collecting Cars. I was set on getting a new Lotus Esprit when I got side tracked into RC.

RC is so sickening that it literally changes your taste in cars. My favorite car was my Z06 before RC and now it is my minivan.

Sailing, Dinghies and Catamarans...it helps to have more than one interest in life.

I recently sold the two large helis I had, crashing and waiting/paying for spares was a pain. I will stick with the 400 size electrics from now on

Thinking of building a semi scale warbird now though, have a spare strimmer petrol engine going to waste;-)
Quality takes........time!

... and if you weren't doing anything related to RC? No RC cars, helis, airplanes, boats, etc.

I used to say, "You will never see me driving a minivan or a pickup truck.". Look at me driving a minivan right now and actually considering getting a pickup truck to tow a RC related trailer .

I would be dirt/street biking. I just sold my 08 KTM 450 XC-F. My bikes have gone on the back burned for the last year. I decide to make a bigger devotion to flying. So the bikes will be sold in time.

Thanks,
Chris

Previous hobby was handguns in a big way. Got to the point of owning well over 20 grand of handguns and equipment. Taught combat handgun training to police in the last two years I was in it. Although fun it was costly and very time consuming. I am much happier with RC as meet several individuals in all walks of life. Police and military peeps are fine but nice to mingle amongst people from all walk of life with common interest. That being said I have a hard time not buying just one handgun just for giggles maybe after new years we'll see ....Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

A very good question indeed

I've been fartin around with RC for like 10 years now and once you get bit by the "RC bug" its hard to quit. I would probably still be playing the Drums.

How much does one cost? Got pics?

I would love to own few if the license wasn't so crazy to obtain.

I was thinking about this, this weekend. Been pondering selling all my nitro stuff and going all e power. That lead to an inventory of all my RC stuff and a estimated net sale value. (I try not to think of the net COST, that is depressing!) but it was a big figure. Close to house down payment big.

Then I thought

What would I do instead?

I still do all of the things I used to do before getting into RC helicopters: mainly fly fishing, guns, dirt bikes, rc planes and cycling. Next year I'm going to scale back my heli activities way down and build up an old 4WD Blazer and a muscle car (probably a Camaro or Nova).

More motorcycle stuff for sure - and some sort of water toy. Here's my current bike, have had it for a number of years now. It'll pull my arms off - would love to have the same in a watercraft.

Similar here, I'd be spending more time between wakeboarding, snowboarding, MTB, and photography. I still do most of them but not nearly as much as before.

i'd been flying RC on and off since the mid-80s. but, the second i picked up a heli in the spring of '05, this project stopped cold in its tracks:

it's covered and in the garage right now in the same condition...covered with heli-junk.

i was just looking at it last night thinking i should start getting some grease under my fingernails again.
if it ain't broke, break it.

I would probably be spending more time with my kids..

I would probably enroll my 2 boys in Karate, soccer, baseball, cub scouts, gymnastics and probably buy a couple jet skis.
