700E with 5.0 PRO Agility Question.
Hello guys.
I have been trying to increase the roll rate for a wile without success...
My seetings were Agility: Medium 120 with the optimizer activated.
I ended up with elev optimize: 70 and Ail optimize: 63 that gave me a very nice elevator speed but aileron was still slow.
Then, I turned off the optimizer and increased manualy Ail from 63 to 75. I couldn't really feel the difference but now, in the log data, I get a lot of "The Cyclic Ring is active"
I understand that this message appears when the agility required exeeds the mechanical limits.
I also understand, the optimizer can be increased to 127% but I'm concerned if this will produce some kind of mechanical binding...
Also I have read that activating the optimizer using 60% of Dual Rate and after optimizer is done, increasing the D/R will increase the speed. Is there any mechanical problem that could happen doing this?
Right now I'm using SAB 221-R 690 blades that weigh 169 grams but I don't have tried them in any other heli so I'm not sure if the problem could be also these type of blades.
Thanks in advance!

If you cannot feel the difference when manually changing the optimizer there is really just a few things that can be true;

a) Your cyclic ring is too small
b) your mechanical throw is too small, i.e. there is no more agility.

Check if you can raise the Cyclic ring a bit more, max it without binding at zero and hover pitch.

The more stable/slow blade you have, the more mechanical throw you need, so yes, blades are part of the equation.

Thanks a lot Mr Mel.
I have changed the cyclic ring from 65 to 80. The aileron thorw was increased 3 or 4mm looking at the swashplate ball links.
There's no bindig at 0 / hover pitch yet... Just a little bit with full pitch full left ail.
I noticed that having 100% right and 100% left aileron in the V-stabi transm. program the real throw was not symetric looking at the swash plate. What I did was, increasing the cyclic ring to 80%, modify the end points from my radio so now I have the same right/left throw without any binding. I ended up with 92% and 116% (V-stabi transm. program) and 100%/ 110% in the radio end points.
Not sure if this mod will interfere with the Vbar performance...

Do not do that, re-adjust so TX calibration reads 100/100
also make sure you have 90 degree on the servo-horn at zero pitch (and or bellcranks if its that type of machine) as it affects.

Then run optimizer, roll and flip in both directions.

IF you have unequal flip/roll rate Left/Right/front/back INFLIGHT after that, you adjust DR, but only if it's inflight, you cannot check this on the bench.

Oka!! Thank you very much!
Everithing back to 100%, cyclic ring at 80 and optimizer activated.
Gonna try this way and increase D/R if the speed is not enough.
Regards!

Today I got two flights with the new settings (cyclic ring 80%)
The first one, just for adjusting the optimizer.
This time I used Precise agility 120.
After optimization, I ended up with Ele 70 and Ail 93.
Then I increased right Ail D/R from 100 to 105%.
I can tell you guys that my 700E is now as fast as my 450PRO with KBDD paddles...
Simply awesome
Thanks!!
